PU is an excellent oil for our engines. I run PU for the full 7,500 mile duration and it does not shear. I'll post a link to my PU UOA's so that you can see how my engine matches with the oil. Your early trend looks close to mine. *EDIT* Check out my UOA's HERE.

Yep Amsoil has had those specs way before PU SN ever came out. I only liked PU because it was easily available at Walmart for a reasonable price and their performance seems comparable.

OP you need to realize that you just purchased one of the most sought after oils (at least here BITOG) for a great deal. On paper and performance PU SN is on par to most of the boutique oils costing quite a bit more money. Pour it in and sleep well at night.

High volatility? Did you get API SM or SN? SN formulation has a whopping volatility of 5% compared to +9% of other synthetics. SM do have a higher volatility, but I'm sure it's not as high as your common dino oils.

Great report! I wouldn't expect any less from PU. This is another example of how stout of an oil PU is. That engine tends to shear other oils down by a grade(along with my EJ255). PU barely budged in viscosity. So happy I stashed up this oil.

I think what you're seeing is normal. What I have observed is there are days where my WRX's water temp would stabilize slightly below the middle tick mark of the OE temp gauge where ambient temps are pretty warm. There are also days where its cool out and the temp gauge is stabilized right on...

5w30 PU SN that I used is also clear. So I'm guessing the typical PU is clear from the bottle.

Ideally the top end of the engine(combustion side of the cylinder) should see minimal amount of oil. So criticizing the oil for not cleaning the top of the pistons are out of their minds. The top of the each piston might see If you guys observe the cylinder walls are flawless (atleast as far...
