What's up with Fuel Prices ....

OK. It's a strange idea, I know, but what if there was a internet site that everyone could log onto and on day XYZ and someone spins a big wheel and.......the winner is BIG DINO...and everyone in the country stops buying their gas. The other companies would pick up the market no doubt, we still...

    Interesting comment about extended OCI's...

"...bunch of backyard mechanics". BAH!!! I work right out front next to the old washing machines and chickens.

2007 Poll - Are you using Synthetic?

    Synthetic...after conventional oil break ins.

    Whats the best filters now?

Amsoil's EaO. Maybe other companies will someday offer a clone.

    Wix 51356 = Napa Gold 1356?

This 1356 filter looks much better then the Honda Filtecs I have been using. Great fleetfilter prices. Get the cabin filters there too.

    Digital odometers rant

Like DIGITAL a lot, have tenths. Especially like the A B trip meters....one for mileage, one for OCI.

MPG on a 2005 Accord with 60k miles

Buster, I'm getting great mpgs in my Civic Si with Havoline. 27-28/32-34. EPA figures are way lower. We get 30-31 mpg always, sometimes almost 32, in our '04 V-6 Accord at 75-82ph. Early oil was GTX and got 29-30, then Mobil1 1 30-31.8, and now Syntec gets about the same as Mobil 1...WORST was...

    Havoline 5W/30, 2940 miles, 2007 Civic Si

Thanks. Love this car. VERY QUICK steer-by-wire works great, alignment stays perfect, better then advertised mpg, digital speed on the dash turns out to be very cool and handy to keeping eyes on the road. The VSA has saved my neck once already. Speed sensitive volumn control on radio is GREAT...

    clear bra

Have them on my '04 Accord and '07 Si. Absolutely happy! Cover the side mirrors too. Pricey but worth it, IMHO. No regrets. Just look at cars like yours that don't have them and see what your future will look like if you don't do it. A good installer has a feel for how far up the hood and around...

    Havoline 5W/30, 2940 miles, 2007 Civic Si

Third UOA on this 2.0L, K20Z3 Honda engine. Getting 27-28 city/30-34 hw mpg...no lie. Honda Filtec, LC20, no make-up oil, Shell Premium gas and normal smooth driving. Warm-up about 30-90 seconds until it falls off high idle and drops to 1,500 rpm. EASY driving first 2-3 miles always. Occasional...

New 2008 car model MPG calculator.

The chart says 23/32 but I get 27/30. If I drop from 80-82 mph to 73-75 mph I get 31-32 highway. The 27+ city really makes me happy. I have no idea why it's working out that way either.

Your Oil Drain Valve Brand and experience

Fumotos on my Accord and Si. Neither sticks out, both have the nipple for plastic tubing and one can drain the oil when it is VERY hot and it flows just fine. Used their washer. Makes mid-OCI sampling a snap. I use a vacuum line rubber cap as a "nipple cap" or just bend a few inches of tubing in...

    Who uses EXIDE batteries?

Used the Checkers kind (Orbit? or something) and had one go at about 42 months and a second one lasted three years. I heard these batteries are very unforgiving of being run down. Seems to fit with what happened to mine.

    Replace battery every five years?

Seem good. I used to pay big bucks for motorcycle batteries. Now I get a lawn and tractor battery from Wal-Mart for under $25 and it lasts just as long as the expensive "motorcycle" batteries used to.

DIY: How to do oil change for dummies

I seriously don't see how that is possible on a road. Use a spring type hose clamp safety if your worried.

DIY: How to do oil change for dummies

Fumoto valve...have it installed by someone if your not a good wrench turner....you don't want to over tighten it since it is brass. It's easy to use if you get the nippled version and some clear plastic hose. Ramps are OK, but I imagined myself driving off them and so I bought a nice 3 1/2 ton...

    Amsoil EAO filter Microns

A gazillion years of tradition unhampered by progress would not persuade me much at all. I'm going to try the Amsoil Filters for a awhile and make up my own mind. There should be lots of data in the months ahead so the truth will come out.

Cars you OWNED and Loved to drive

1965 Ford Galaxy 500 XL Convertable. A sofa for a back seat and a four barrel 428 that was almost a top tier hot car. Rusting and/or rotting in big brother's garage I believe. 1971 Karman Ghia Coupe. A one piece Italian body with German guts that was easy to maintain, repair and the ONLY car I...
