I do not know if it qualified as synthetic, but I used ARCO Graphite in the late 1970's.

I was over at the Walmart, and 10W-30 Mobil 1 can be had with the EP designation, not the 15W-50. But in 2008 I ran the 15W-50 for 11,000 miles with no problems, in the very same Avalon.

I ran 15w-50 in the same car in the summer of 2008. I do not see why people flip out over it, as it works just fine & is often on sale. In the summer it is AOK around here.

Have any of you worked for this organization? They want, as with any employer, personal information such as one's SSN and bank account number for direct billing. How trustworthy are they about keeping this information under control?

I go with the idea that the filter got wet, really wet somewhere down the line. Maybe it was on a truck that got swamped in those recent storms in the South, like that hurricane that was around Florida.
