    Best windshield wipers?

Just relaying my experience. I get enough clean to drive off more quickly with rubber blades. Never said they are ice scrapers, but my silicone blades tended to ride over ice, frost that rubber blades wound knock off. Probably doesn’t matter much on a warmed up car.

    Best windshield wipers?

I have 3 year old PIAA silicone wipers on two of my cars, and they are outstanding. The downside is they are soft and don’t work well on ice or frost.

    '16 5.0 F150 Ignition Coils

I think the coils get blamed for misfiring, but the misfires are often caused by bad coil boots leaking spark. I always try to change the boots when I change the spark plugs, and I’m sure to use plenty of dielectric grease in boot.

    Thinking about Vredestein 🤔

I had Vredestein quatrac pro on my wife's G37X. I was pretty happy with them. They did seem like they were a little soft, but they were really good in the snow. One tire took a nail in the sidewall, and my size was backordered at Tirerack with a long lead. We wound up replacing all 4 with...

Record run on your original electric fuel pump

The last couple of pumps I pulled were in a plastic tub and the pump weeps fuel into the tub to keep the pump cool. I don’t think running low will create any overheating with this setup. I had a ‘97 4.6 F-150 with 330,000 miles on the original pump. My ‘89 TTA has high performance pump that I...

    Rustproofing Oil and Dirt Buildup

This is one of the reasons I started using boiled linseed oil for undercoating. It hardens to a gummy consistency and dirt doesn’t build up on it to anywhere near this degree.

Highest-paying trade jobs in 2024, according to Indeed

Seems like it depends where you work. In the great lakes region, most non-contractor heavy industrial trade jobs pay about $100,000 on straight time, and people who sell every weekend to the company can make mid $200,000's most with pensions and an occasional 401K match. Ultrasonographer is in...

Do similar personalities mesh the best when married?

I agree but I’d be willing to wager that in a forum and discussion like this anyone posting their years of marriage feels their marriage is a success.

Do similar personalities mesh the best when married?

Married 33 years yesterday. Similar values, similar politically. She’s more uptight and phically motivated than me (30,000 + steps on her day off). Our parenting styles meshed, and it was always us as a team controlling the children. It also helps that neither of us is selfish. I think it...

    Valvoline Restore & Protect

I'm going to be giving R&P a try on a previously ring flushed '17 Audi Q3. It was using about 2 quarts in 500 miles. Post flush, at 3000 miles from a quick change shop I was finally able to check the oil which was at the bottom of the dipstick. If they had it full, I'd say 2-2.5 quarts in 3000...

    DEF as Fertilizer?

My understanding is it does cost a bit more than other options, but it’s not too crazy for a liquid fertilizer. Can granular be easily turned into a liquid? What about iron? I’d like to do both at once in liquid form.

R22 systems? Keep them running or what?

My brother has found a couple of pretty decent side job HVAC techs on Facebook marketplace. They've been more than willing to fix my 1991 Armstrong HVAC system which has only needed a run start cap and thermostat wiring since new. The guy I like better said to rock the R-22 system as long as...

BMW cartridge oil filter - correct installation?

Have you priced FCP Euro. I bought an OEM one from them, and it doesn’t stand out in my mind as being pricey.

1997 Chevy Cavalier failed emissions testing

Ethanol doesn’t seem to be very damaging to older cars unlike methanol, and I don’t think E20 is much of a stretch from the E10 that most of are forced to use especially if it’s only in the tank for a few days.

1997 Chevy Cavalier failed emissions testing

I wonder how much extra ethanol content would it take to pass. It would lower NOx and hydrocarbon. Are there limits on retesting? I’d shoot for E20-25 and see what happens.

Piston Soak time for the SL2

Is that a motor oil? Wouldn’t the viscosity be kinda high to make it past the rings and slow cleaning? If I ever do another flush, I’ll use some premix as a last step.

Turtle Wax Graphene Acrylic Trim Restore..

I put one coat of it on my F150 mirrors and back bumper about 2 months ago. Still looks great if maybe a little too shiny. Next time I’ll use masking tape, a Foam applicator and rubber gloves. IMO it’s a once at the start of the spring product. A lot of the newer Turtlewax products are pretty...
