Tried to buy a Mitsubishi Mirage yesterday

we bought a santa cruz mostly because of warranty and 2.9% @48 months. Mitsu doesn't do anything special for the warranty and they arent offering a low rate so why even look there. Get an elantra or a accent if you like that body of car.

    Battery Prices

Just put a battery in my friend's passat. He called me on lunch to help him after work. I told him maybe shop around, he was like nah will just go to O'reilly. $249 for an AGM. Ouch. I think they were more than buying it from VW themselves.

How Do You Check Brake Pads

You guys will laugh, but I go to this place called Brake Check. I bought lifetime brakes from them, and I get my oil changed by them once a year and tell them to measure the front and rear pads. This way I don't wear the pads out and kill my warranty. Yes I can do it in my driveway, but I don't...

2019 Hyundai Tucson 2.0 GDI, 5,750 OCI PP 5w-20. Engine failed 5k later.

I have a 2.0L NU GDI in my Tuscon.. It uses about half a quart of 10w30 Maxlife with 3500 miles in between oil changes. This vehicle has an extended engine warranty because I completed all the recalls with it, but I need to keep records of maintenance, so I let valvoline change the oil for me.

couple photos of our new Santa Cruz.

After a year of Ford dealers refusing to sell a Maverick at MSRP, we negotiated a good deal on a 2024 Santa Cruz SEL. About $1500 off sticker price. 2.9% for 48 months. 3 years maintenance, 5/60k bumper to bumper, and 10/100k powertrain. This has the non turbo smartstream engine, that has GDI...

I was told that Canada uses the T568a standard. The way I wire them in the US is T568b. Any truth to that?

    Feline Nutrition

Kitty needs to eat cat food not chicken breasts only. They are fortified with taurine and nutrients they need. I have two cats and they split a can of purina one twice a day (wet), and are left a minimal amount of purina one dry. Always new stainless steel dishes washed in the dishwasher. Fresh...

Construction site dust - effect on OCI and air filter interval

I live near a gravel quarry, and heavy heavy construction during Texas drought conditions. I buy two cabin filters and two engine air filters for each car, and throw them in at six month intervals regardless of condition. The cabin filters are usually trashed at six months.

Should a SSD be replaced after X years?

On a comsumer drive, you need to monitor the SMART values for predictive failure, and replace them when they do that. The trim function tells the OS what parts of the drive are available to right, basically how much free space you have. This is done automatically on modern operating systems on...

Should a SSD be replaced after X years?

I administer various enterprise flash and hybrid flash SAN's at work. I have yet to see a flash module fail. The spinning ones fail from time to time. On the desktop side the guys have had some of the m2 modules fail, but that is a difference between a $90 part and a $2000 part.
