where is the walmart ATF in gallons gone too?

Last time I was at the local Walmart I was amazed at the weak selection of ATF. They had Supertech Dex/Merc in gallons but little else. Amazingly they did not have any Mercon V....or even a universal that listed Mercon V compatibility.

    Snow Blower advice please

OP, your signature says you have a Honda and a Toyota. You obviously prefer Japanese brands. Why change on a snowblower?

What do you do with your old oil?

My town has a hazardous waste program that has a truck come to my home to pick up a variety of household products including used oil. Call them up and they send you a large plastic bag and stickers to label everything. They are only supposed to take what is in the bag but this last time the 30+...

    Any current Synpower users?

Because of the great Valvoline rebates over the years I have a HUGE stash of Synpower 5w30 and 10w30 that I have used exclusively in my 2000 Mazda 626 for the past 5 years or so. I switched over from Mobil 1 because of consumption issues. After I put the Valvoline in it didn't lose a drop. I...

    Which filter

I have a 2008 Odyssey purchased used through Honda and asked myself the same question about sticking with OEM oil and filter throught the warranty period. I actually just purchased an extended warranty on it a few months ago. I have used an OEM filter and oil since I bought the van last year but...

Rant - Hate modern air filters!

I have a 2000 Mazda 626 that I have to take off the top of the airbox along with the big hose going into the intake in order to get the filter out. Huge pain. I also have a vintage 1987 Honda Civic (yes carb like the op) and it is a simple wing nut to get at the filter. However the oil filter...

First Trip to a Harbor Freight Store...

Been going to Harbor Freight for years. Some of the stuff is fine while some is junk. I use their adjustable crescent wrenches all the time and they are fine. I had a set of 3 avation snips that were complete garbage cutting anything other than really thin metal. Used a hole saw to drill through...

Thoughts on spin-on external trans filter?

I installed a Canton Racing billet aluminum spin-on filter mount along with a B&M cooler last year on my low mileage 1997 Ranger. Mount uses the same FL1A filter as the engine. Had plenty of room in front of the truck to mount both with no problem. Had trouble with leaks for some time before I...

Pennzoil ATF: why so hard to find?

I am also in the Chicagoland area and for whatever reason some Walmarts have a bunch and some none at all. I considerd using it but went with Maxlife. I know I have seen Pennzoil ATF at local Target stores, but I know they only had a few quarts on the shelf.

You pick: Castrol or Valvoline Mercon V

I used 14 quarts of Castrol Mercon V to flush and fill a 1997 Ranger earlier this year and it has been just fine. I did get most of it for $2.50 a quart which sealed the deal in my choice of brands. I would use it again without issue.

Routine ATF change...from Dex VI to Maxlife

I just got rid of a 1991 S-10 4.3 with the 4L60E (hence my name). At 250,000 miles it still shifted great without ever changing the trans fluid. The only new fluid it saw was the very small amount needed to replace what came out of the cooler lines when I replaced the radiator 3 times. I know...

    Honda DW-1 Synthetic ATF

To confuse things on the backwards compatability, Bernardi Honda lists the following information on thier site when purchasing ATF.. Fits: ATF DW-1 - Accord 2008+, Civic 2006+, CR-V 2007+, and Odyssey 2011+ ATF Z1 - Automatic transmission Hondas not using DW-1 MTF - All manual transmission...

Anyone heard of ATF Z1 Ultra for Honda?

I just picked up a 2008 Odyssey with 24000 miles (still in warranty) and am about to change the trans fluid so I am glad I have found this thread. The following was at in the elementsownersclub link... Is it a good "change in shifting feel" or not? I think the current feel is choppy....even in...
