Can a high HTHS ever be detrimental to engine protection?

Furthest thing from the truth. I just know it can't be both ways, pretty simple really. I get "thin guys" calling me a "thick oil guy" too. So at least balances out.

Can a high HTHS ever be detrimental to engine protection?

"My car lasted to 340K miles on 0w20 and my buddies to 340K miles on 5w40...yup, that means there's no wear difference" Both are fallacies we commonly use to establish our points of view. But if there were no difference, lower viscosity oils would not exist - because that really is the only...

Can a high HTHS ever be detrimental to engine protection?

It's impossible to have it both ways. You may not notice a significant difference but the lower viscosity, lower HTHS oil absolutely gets better mpg. Conversely, those running lower HTHS might not notice a significant difference in wear ("I drove that car for 300k mi on 0w20 w/o issue") but...

Vehicles with optional engines that use a different viscosity

0w20 is the only recommendation for the 1.5T in various (because i can't say "all") countries under the guise of Vauxhall and Opel; including the UK and Germany

Traded in the Sonata for a Malibu. Dealership issue.

It's just fine. Yes, the sensor does its job without much fuss or in-your-face alarms. Most of my family is 6ft or less. So we don't find it cramped (addressing a different poster's concern).

    M1 0w-20 EP or a better value 0w-20?

Mine had to do with the condition of the filters upon arrival. If my memory serves me correctly on the numbers, three of eight filters were dented and one of the eight had noticeable rust.

    M1 0w-20 EP or a better value 0w-20?

Tempting but my last couple orders from RA didn't go so well.

    M1 0w-20 EP or a better value 0w-20?

Dilution is definitely an issue, but at 3k mile oci, I wouldn't worry about it. M1EP is a great choice. As are the others you mentioned, OP.
