    87 Monte Carlo SS

If that were mine, I'd keep it stone cold original. It's a fine example of one of the nicest designs of the 80's-it would be a shame to alter it in any way. For the oil, I'd go with Valvoline MaxLife 5w30 blend. More than good enough with no potential downsides.

2005 Toyota Sienna 257K miles 5K miles on the oil Out: Valvoline Maxlife 5w30 and Motorcraft filter In: Castrol GTX High Mileage 5w30 and Fram Extra Guard filter ...the Maxlife did a nice job of getting the excesive oil consumption I was having with Mobil 1 under control. Went from over a...

Service dept uses unapproved oil. Looking for advice (M-Benz GLC 300)

The shilling for the site sponsor is starting to get a little much on here. Edit: My comment above was inspired by a now deleted previous post.

What is your favorite frozen pizza?

When I lived in Northern Illinois, my favrorite was Home Run Inn. I don't know how widely distributed it is, but if you come across it, give it a go. https://www.homeruninnpizza.com And despite what you may hear from the media, thin crust pizza rules in the Chicago area. I doubt deep dish is...

    Windshield Wiper Fluid

Agree about the Rain-X. Used it for the first time in awhile about a week ago. Been real dry and dusty since. It's a dust magnet. Water and Dawn works fine, but I'd go a little lighter than 1 OZ. Stuff is very concentrated.

I like the Penzoil chart better...it's got horses and pistons 'n things.

Too late to switch to 0W-30 in a 2008 Yaris?

A couple early experiments I will discount, because they were such old engines (1980 Impala and 1991 Toyota pickup). Both increased leaking after switching to synthetics. My 1997 Malibu ,I won't. About 180k miles on bulk oil. No leaks. Switched to full synthetic and began to leak. Switched to...

Too late to switch to 0W-30 in a 2008 Yaris?

I have experienced oil leakage and increased oil useage from switching to full synthetic oils on high mileage engines. Never again. I'd go with Valvoline Maxlife 5w30 blend and never give it another thought.

Vehicle Sighting - mid-'80s Buick Le Sabre

My brother had the 88 from that period. Had the transmission replaced under warrantee multiple times. Lots of electrical issues. Before that he had the Celebrity...absolute piece of junk. I had a 6000...what could go wrong did go wrong. Hard pass on most American 80's cars in general.

    Ever plugged a tire yourself?

Probably 20 times in 50 years. Zero failure rate. Has saved me hundreds of dollars and gotten me out of some difficult situations. My vehicles always have a repair kit and a Ryobi 18v inflator ready to go. I hate those repair in a can deals.

I need the best penetrating oil

PB Blaster is available most places, not expensive, and will work if given time. No time=torch. That's just the way it goes.

KIA Rio + Mitsubishi Mirage get the boot ...

Good luck finding that 23k Corolla or Civic. My son recently bought a base Rio for under 20K total. Really nice little car and he's very happy with it after 6 months. I hope to buy it from him in a few years if he gets tired of it.

New computer, best AD blocker for Windows 11

I just use the Brave browser. All the built in ad blocking you'll need right out of the box. Also great at deflecting redirects when streaming.

Looking to replace Daily Driver Camry 2017 SE - Battery Type 24F

I was going to recommend the NAPA Legend that has been going strong for me now for 7 years. But I did a little research, and it seems they are now made in India or Turkey or who knows where. The Battery Game is not an easy one anymore.

    Gaskets and High Mileage Oil

I had success with MaxLife. But I suspect that many of them are almost the same as their regular oils-mostly a marketing gimmick.
