Is BITOG Even Necessary Any More?

    Hopefully only chlorinated paraffins!

Is BITOG Even Necessary Any More?

Nope, BITOG isn’t necessary. Please run away while you can, before you get sucked in by the “oil is oil” crowd, or the “but the manual says I can’t run thick oil” crowd…

What $1.165 million buys in Flagstaff, AZ (townhouse)

Umm, no. $524/mo HOA is more than my mortgage for 1900SF ranch, 24x30 garage & 16x32 barn on 3.1 Acres. Nearest neighbor 403 yards away according to laser rangefinder 😉

    Lets talk about Bourbon

First time with Wilderness Trail, because they were again out of my favorite Old Forester single barrel, barrel proof. This one is “Family Reserve Cask Strength, 114 proof. Bottle #2 of 204. $79.99. If you prefer cask strength to be so smooth on the first sip that Jim Beam burns more, this may...

Brand and amount to double the zinc amount from 800ppm to 1600ppm?

Again, today’s oils are specially formulated as a total package. Just dumping in an additive doesn’t mean anything beneficial will occur; all you’re guaranteed is that the result will be miscible. Return the oil, sell it, give it away, whatever, but don’t think you’re doing your engine favors...

    Amazon didn’t like my review

The real problem with this method of censorship is that by ensuring free speech, it gives the crazies an open platform; silencing them removes the spotlight from the ones we should really be paying attention to. Being able to say anything empowers people to speak their true mind, not the...

    Lake Mead water level video

If the U.S. had built 1000 nuclear reactors across the country like the Nixon admin originally proposed, 100% of the fresh water used in the U.S. could have been made for pennies on the million gallons. Instead, they created the NRC to essentially kill cheap, endless, carbon-neutral electricity...

    Considering a 3.6L H-6 Subaru

Plugs aren’t terrible. Nothing a ratchet, 3” & 6” extension, and plug socket can’t handle. Along with a Xanax and a six pack…

    Considering a 3.6L H-6 Subaru

That’s why I paid the local indie 3 hours to do VC gaskets & spark plug tube seals… worth every penny, plus rounding up to the nearest $100 in order to not sour the relationship… 🤣

Bit of a re-introduction and some basic questions. 2006 Subaru Legacy GT.

Turbo EJs don’t have the same open-deck issues that EJ251/253 have. The Mobil is a fine choice, the 57055XP is NOT.

2024 Subaru Outback XT first gear oil change front and back. - Notes

I’ll only do one for you… 51.6ft-lbs is 70 N-m. That’s why they’re odd numbers. And yes, the different sizes is frustrating. At least on the older cars all you need is your 3/8” square drive ratchet. 👍🏻

    Lets talk about Bourbon

First time with Horse Soldier Reserve. 61%, 122 proof. It’s definitely not “bad”, but it just doesn’t get my taste buds excited for the next sip like just about any Old Forester (especially the barrel proof series) does! My uncle says anybody who drinks bourbon without a splash of water at a...

2002 Subaru Forester S with 4eat transmission - Help, Urgent. I think I screwed up

A little off topic but still 4EAT-related. Even though the Subaru calls for HPL Blue and my F-150 (10R80) calls for HPL Teal, the F150 has been running Green CC for 35k miles, and the Impreza on Green CC as well for about 17k. Probably confirming Trav’s point on the MaxLife, it always worked...

2002 Subaru Forester S with 4eat transmission - Help, Urgent. I think I screwed up

I don’t know what TLS viscosity range is equivalent to, but I’ve used nothing but MaxLife ATF in my 4EATs for at least a decade. If a vehicle that takes TLS is covered by what MaxLife says it’s suitable for, I would imagine you’ll probably be fine.
