Bought A Cheap Accord, The Sequel: Acura TSX

Spent a lot of time working on the car today, although nothing really exciting, in fact, quite boring. I worked on the paint correction that I started a few days ago. Personally, this is my absolute least favorite task to do on a car. It’s very time consuming and tedious, there’s too many...

Bought A Cheap Accord, The Sequel: Acura TSX

Yes sorry! There were a few very clean examples, but the majority were about what you’d expect for a 20 year old car- still driving but definitely had issues. Very few with manuals. Probably 90+ percent of the ones I saw were automatics.

Bought A Cheap Accord, The Sequel: Acura TSX

There’s a billion OEM-type knobs on eBay, most of them are claiming to be genuine but I’m gonna guess a lot of them are probably knockoffs based on the price and where they are shipping from. For something like a shift knob, it doesn’t matter all that much. The original shift knob for this car...

Bought A Cheap Accord, The Sequel: Acura TSX

Beautiful car! 2006 must be a good year, because there’s three of them here! Thanks! Well, besides the shift knob (lol), the next few items on the agenda that I know of are- 1.) finish polishing the paint and wax it 2.) replace the front grille 3.) replace the air intake hose 4.) flush the...

Bought A Cheap Accord, The Sequel: Acura TSX

So I went to the junkyard today to get a pigtail to make the clutch switch adjustment procedure a bit easier. I hooked the pigtail to my multimeter and adjusted it until there was continuity, rather than starting the car and checking a bunch of times. I followed the procedure to a T and honestly...

Bought A Cheap Accord, The Sequel: Acura TSX

Thanks for all the replies everyone. Appreciate all the compliments and I hope you’ll all follow along! Nice car! It’s encouraging to see other TSXs with higher mileage! Glad to have you following along! There were a lot of super clean automatic TSXs for sale but I was really dead set on...

Bought A Cheap Accord, The Sequel: Acura TSX

The day after I bought the car, I made a trip to the junkyard to hopefully find some parts for it. They had two TSXs. Between them, I managed to get a wiper arm, some trim clips, a few fasteners, the decklid badges, a clutch switch, a battery terminal cover, and some factory-style hose clamps. I...

Bought A Cheap Accord, The Sequel: Acura TSX

If you followed the thread on my 1997 Accord, I hope you’ll enjoy this thread as well. This thread will be to document and share the work on my new project/daily driver, a 2006 Acura TSX, which replaced the Accord. I always loved these TSXs and the Acura TLs ever since they came out when I was a...

    Bought a Cheap Accord

Well all good things must come to an end, and the Honda Accord saga ends here. The Accord went to a new owner last Wednesday. Just felt it was time to move on. I had my fun with it and I was ready for a new project. I picked up a new car to tinker with on Wednesday of this week, it’s a 2006...

    Filter Quality

I’m so confused by the original post… is there a question? 🤣

    My Own Redline SI-1 Test

You bring up a great point and I totally agree. Like I said, this is not a highly scientific test. The good news is that those last 2578 miles included some summer miles, as I hardly drove the truck during the winter. According to my Carfax log, on September 24 of last year, I was at 102,484...

    My Own Redline SI-1 Test

Redline SI-1 seems to be a forum favorite and there’s a lot of evidence out there that it works as advertised. I’ve never used it before in any vehicle, so I decided to pick up a couple bottles and perform a test of my own. I’m strictly going to be testing whether or not fuel economy is...

Has there ever been a mainstream vehicle that holds its value as well as a 5th Gen 4Runner?

I can think of a few relatively mainstream vehicles that hold resale extremely well- Honda S2000s Jeep Wranglers 2007 and older Diesel 3/4 ton trucks Cadillac CTS-Vs (on the edge of not being mainstream but I wouldn’t consider them an exotic), basically every generation.

    Kyle Busch passed away

I saw the news yesterday almost as soon as it broke. Still can’t believe he’s gone. I’m a big NASCAR fan, I watch weekly and go to at least one race every year. I wasn’t really a Rowdy fan early on in his career, but I grew to really like him and began to root for him after he moved to RCR. He...

Will Your Car Survive an EMP?

The only solution is to drive a a Dodge with a 12 valve Cummins.

    Bought a Cheap Accord

Since I fixed the interior door handle, I decided I should fix the exterior door handle too. If you go back to post 270 on page 14, you’ll see I mentioned it was partially broken, and I’ve just been dealing with it since. I ordered a Dorman one and it was a complete piece of junk. It was made...

    Are All Rotors the Same?

Replaced those brakes on my sisters car. Probably could’ve reused the pads but I didn’t. These new rotors are fully coated Bosch units and Akebono pads. I’m convinced this was caused by a defect/quality issue, rather than environmental factors or abuse.

    Post your latest oil change

Doesn’t burn any, and I sleep better at night! I change the oil whenever it gets to 50% on the OLM. Sometimes it’s 1500 miles, sometimes it’s 4000 miles. I don’t think I’ve ever gone more than 5k though.
