Short of any specific requirements, my go-to lube for similar applications is Wurth HHS-K. Long lasting, OK with most plastics and rubbers. Importantly it applies as a low viscosity liquid that penetrates then sets up to a gooey, sticky and stringy film. Great stuff.

I'd run a quality 5/10/15w50 given the usage you describe, and a good xw40 would also be fine. Mobil 1 5w50 and 15w50 are very good off the shelf oils. If it were me, I'd use Redline 10w50 as that is my fleet oil for most of what we own.

Rovers are awesome and wonderful drivers, with decent off-road capabilities for what they are. I miss mine, and as much as I enjoy the Land Cruiser and its Toyota ease of ownership, I will be back to a Defender or full size RR next. That said, I never had any serious issues with my RR's...
