Cayman Brac. 1999 or so. Texaco branded. Very small. 1 dispenser 2 products. Guessing gas/diesel. Only station on the island. Runway was made of crushed shells. Great diving.

    Oil change events for charity

I knew the man who coordinated this event. The documented record for the most oil changes performed by a Jiffy Lube location in a 24-hour period is 1,609 vehicles, achieved by the Deer Park, New York, Jiffy Lube. This occurred when they surpassed the previous record of 1,144 cars set by a...

2024 GMC Yukon (part of recalled engines) Various Oils, Total 7.1k mi

I probably wouldn't be happy without a new engine but... Would I want anyone taking my new engine apart? 10 year 150k mile warranty (free) might make the decision easier.

    2014 X3 N20 2.0 Thoughts after 13k

I would surely verify the replacement. I had several customers point fingers at me when the failure occurred. Always spec'd oils and Mann or Hengst cartridge. Simply showed them the oil level being full and filter tight. Then off to the internet to show them the huge numbers of people with...

    Disgusting ice cream truck.

Uncle Andy's truck was immaculate. He, too, was selling other things. We'd visit him at the Lewisburg State Penitentiary for several years.

Motorcraft Oil Filter Catastrophic Seam Failure

Just my opinion. That is not the proper filter application for this engine. It's a "well it fits, threads are the same, I can cross reference this enough to make it work in my mind. It's bigger therefore a better filter so it should work" scenario. I'm not saying this is the issue but if a pro...

    2013 BMW 2.0L/Turbo 110k mi (engine 55k mi); Castrol Edge 5w-40 3.4k mi

As a former "quick lube" owner I have seen a bunch of engine failures on these BMW engines. Many where I was looked at the cause of the issues. A quick Google search will open your eyes as to the extent of engine failures that occur. Timing Chain Issues: The timing chain, which is crucial for...

First drain/fill on 2021 tundra question

I did a complete change through the ATF cooling lines on my 11 Tundra. Been a while but i used the OBD port method to insure proper temp when checking. I recall I had to used a pin/nail of sorts to insure the the thermostat on the cooling lines remained open. Drove it a bit and re-checked level.

No unimportant jobs- school bus driver

My wife is a driver. She transports special needs students. Drivers here are members of the teachers unions. We have top tier benefits and cost is a small % of her wages. Prior to that I was paying over $2k/mo for mediocre coverage for 3. She maintains close relationships with many of her...

    TOYOTA OIL DRAIN PLUG GASKET

When we started using torque wrenches on every vehicle I/we noticed the Toyota drain plugs would, over time, seem to loosen up and in some cases weep oil. This was especially true when using a fiber gasket. I found that re-using the gaskets and tightening a bit over the spec'd torque helped...

What makes you like where you live?

South Jersey here. I'm an hour from the shore and close to Phila. Don't really like the city. The farther south you travel the better the state gets. Taxes are brutal.
