Understand that oil specs are designed to meet EPA and gov. regs.....NOT what's best fe engine longevity. The sooner vehicles fail, the the more vehicles people purchase. The manufacturer is not the best judge of performance.

I was afraid to buy a sludge engine, but needed a van, and trusted Toyots, so I bought one any way. SUPRISE....I changed to oil as requierd or sooner and used M1 ans out 200K on the engine, trust me it's NOT THE ENGINE, it's the nut behind the wheel that causes sludge engine.

One thing people leave out. Change the fuid in your tranny the week you own it, then the oild is clean. Just what's in the pan. From then on just change the pan every 5-10K miiles and you will be always puttimng clean tranny fluid in pretty clean tranny fluid. You won't be in a DIRTY / CLEAN...
