    Gun cleaning day

I'm thirty years behind the times with handguns, for obvious reasons, so just humour me guys. Parker Hale 009 is the solvent i preferred. Little drop of Parker Hale gun oil where needed. One of those miracle cloths for removing the carbon on cylinder faces.

Sporterized 1916 Swedish Mauser...finally shot it

Lovely rifle you have there. The left hand stock would suit me perfectly. Do not be too disappointed if it does not shoot well at first, the PPU ammunition can be a bit hit and miss - no pun intended. 6.5x55 is a great cartridge. I took my first Deer with it. Norma 140gr soft point.

Hi Astro. Thank you for taking the time to explain what went into the ejection training. I would have never come remotely close to completing any of that.

F-14 Questions Answered - Ask Away

Hi Astro. Another question if you do not mind. I was reading another post that was talking of skydiving and it got me wondering about how much training you went through to prepare for a possible ejection. Was parachute training something you did a lot of? I am guessing it is not easy to...

Mobil 1 ESP X4 0W40 (MB 229.52, for diesel Benz)

Hi. I am not sure where you are but i am guessing Europe. I suggest searching for Mercedes own branded oils. Here in the UK they are very reasonably priced, much cheaper than the likes of Mobil etc. I can get them from Mercedes dealers on Ebay.

F-14 Questions Answered - Ask Away

Hi @Astro14 I apologise if my questions have been covered previously. That hot weather we have been getting here in England got me to thinking about Pilot and RIO comfort in the F14 cockpit. You are both sat under a large area of glass, you are also surrounded by electrical equipment that i...

    F-14 to fly again?

Hi. Ward Carrol has made a piece on this subject. He talks to a former Tomcat pilot about what will be needed to get one flying. I am guessing Astro would find this interesting as a trip down memory lane.

    Would you continue using Mannol?

Fwiw. A quick look around ebay shows i can buy genuine Mercedes 5w-30 MB229.52 cheaper than a Mannol version. That's from a Mercedes main dealer too at £100 for 20 litres delivered. That's two oil changes on my Jeep.

Land Rover Ingenium 3.0 inline 6 petrol with a history of 21k mile intervals. Valvoline Restore and Protect plan.

Land Rover design some wonderful vehicles. In an ideal world the designers would work for Toyota/Honda, or failing that, the Honda/Toyota engineers would work for JLR. :)

A-10 Warthog's Tusks Are Being Sharpened For A High-End Fight

Hi. Question if i may to those that know about these things. The big gun was designed to kill swarms of Soviet Tanks as they tore through the Fulda gap in Germany. Would that gun even be effective against a modern main battle tank? An example of a main battle tank being tough is a Challenger...
