    Carboned Intake Valves

I've heard about people using dry ice to blast off carbon deposits off the intake valves in DI engines. Downside is that Dry Ice is expensive... But it works pretty well from what I have seen.

Oil Strategy To Prevent Carbon Piston / Ring Deposits ?

The others have already mentioned it in regards to the oil, but I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet regarding the fuel you use, but doing an "Italian tuneup" actually does help in regard to blowing out the carbon, and helps clean the injector tips in DI engines. It also helps reduce some...

$6 - $10 increase on oils (5qt jugs) in Walmart this morning July/2026

Dont forget the United Arab Emirates left OPEC. They have said they wanted to pump and export more oil without the constraints of OPEC. How this impacts the global oil market remains to be seen...

    Walmart oil prices - Ah!

I went to a different Walmart and it looks as though people are making a run for the Castrol at its current price. The shelf was starting to dwindle. No 5W-20, no regular 5W-30 Full Synthetic, and only 3 jugs of 5 QT 5W30 Full Synthetic High Mileage left on the shelf (I bought 2 of them). There...

    Stocking Up On Motor Oil

I still have 8 quarts of Valvoline Restore and Protect 5W30, 8 quarts of Mobil 1 High Mileage Full Synthetic 5W30, and 10 quarts of Castrol Edge High Mileage Full Synthetic 5W30. I have a lot to last, but I will be using up the last of the Mobil 1 later this year since I'm closing in on the 1...

Bled the brakes before a pad slap?

Royalty Auto Service on YT mentioned in one of their "How To " videos from 2 years ago to do that extra step to prevent the dirty fluid from being pushed back up into the brake system. He said to open the bleeder valve, have it drain into a container and then compress the piston. Once the piston...

    Walmart oil prices - Ah!

Well I just went to Walmart and sure enough, all the prices have gone up as has been mentioned in this thread. Castrol Edge is the only full synthetic oil that is still priced decently around $23. I bought 2 5Qt jugs of their Full Synthetic High Mileage 5W30 to add to my existing stockpile of...

OBD2 Plug In Gas Savers a Real Scam

Project Farm posted a video over a month ago (definitely worth watching) trying various products and those "Made in China" plug in gas saver things do absolutely nothing to your car. What was even more hilarious is that there is a product that plugs in to the cigarette lighter port that...

Valvoline Restore and Protect brought me back to BITOG

I'm running Valvoline Restore and Protect as well, but I'm still on my 1st interval with my Chevy. Besides Mobil 1 ESP, its a beloved oil on here. It's that good! My Pontiac will be getting the Valvoline Restore and Protect treatment later this year and it needs it since it consumes oil.

Which top tier gas for older cars?

Cant go wrong with Sunoco or Exxon. I would use whatever has the lower price. Shell isn't bad, but it always seems to be more expensive. Me personally I like BP, especially now since they are Top Tier Plus.

    “Clean your MAF!” - everyone

I recently cleaned the MAF sensor and Throttle Body on my 2009 Pontiac G8 GT using CRC's 2 can pack of Throttle Body and Mass Air Flow Sensor cleaner and immediately noticed much smoother acceleration, especially at lower speeds. The low speed low RPM "surging"/hesitation issue I was having...

    Youtube Oil Experts

I'm already done with the AI slop low effort videos flooding YouTube. Its even more annoying when they make a video with years old inaccurate data (referring to a Top Tier gasoline video I watched a while back), oil ranking videos where the AI is going off of peoples opinions on certain brands...

    Exxon Synergy Supreme+ premium gasoline

For me, I go with BP primarily and Quik-Trip as my second option. There are no Exxon stations that I know of in my area, but there are a few Shell stations.

So are Purolator oil filters the replacement for Fram going forward? This was the Walmart isle at my nearest store.

This was the oil isle at my nearest Walmart. I wasn't buying Oil, but I stopped by to see if... 1: There was any Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30. 2: See if the oil filter section was still a ghost town.. No Valvoline Restore and Protect. But the near empty shelf that used to house the...
