    Southern Home Indoc

Just moved in today. Love the home, but getting used to the heat and humidity. Might need to do a mini split for the garage because it was sweltering! Termite bonds...are they worth it? I'm due for a treatment by the looks of it in about a month. No termites in ND, so this is a new one for me too.

Shout out to USA made HeatShield brand sunshades!

I bought one last week. Excellent products.

Study shows driving a manual transmission is good for your brain

Much more fun than an auto despite the fact that shift time and mpgs are better on modern autos.

Federal Pacific Panel Prevents House Closing

I agree, the only on-site visit I've ever had from an insurance company was an exterior walk about a year ago, local broker only interested in confirming exterior features, outbuildings, etc. That alone was interesting to me, because any national company doesn't have boots on the ground to even...

Are your driving plans changing due to fuel costs?

Just completed a 1200+ mile trip, and paid about $170 total on premium fuel. The sky is not falling.

Anyone else turn everything off when you stop the car?

There is no need to shut off anything, nor idle for turbo cooling, in any modern vehicle. Electronic programming waits to engage the compressor and blower fan until after the starter disengages. Modern turbos are not primarily oil cooled, they are water cooler and have pumps that circulate after...

    Counterfeit NGK spark plugs

Mine looked about the same at 50k. I know VW's interval is 40k but seems like overkill for these plugs. But, easy to change so why not.

    Lets talk about new vehicles

I like that it's made in Japan. If I could get over the exterior styling...I do think the interior looks great. A coworker has one in Red Diamond, the paint looks amazing.

Airplane in-flight entertainment - the new norm?

I don't see the need given the number of personal devices most people have. Half of the time the last few Delta flights I've been on they lose service and don't work anyways. Downloaded movies on your personal tablet from Prime, Disney or wherever are pretty foolproof.

    Florida Realtors and Homebuilding Journey

I like carpet in bedrooms, primarily for noise isolation. Layout obviously plays a part but with young kids playing the noise carries too easily otherwise.

What $1.165 million buys in Flagstaff, AZ (townhouse)

Townhomes across the street from me own the land. HOA manages and takes care of exterior maintenance, mowing, etc. but there are still individual lots for each unit.

    Home roof hail damage

Make sure that includes wind and hail, often now it is a separate deductible than all other perils.

    Exterior House Painting Ongoing

@Pablo how do you like your epoxied porch? I'm likely going this route on the covered rear patio, TBD on the front porch. Does the step get slick when it rains?

    Homeowners Insurance Opinions

Shopping around every year or two is needed to maintain the best rates...my loyalty is to no one. Use a broker for sure. A change that has occurred across multiple carriers the past couple of years is large increases in the wind/hail deductible. Standard is now 1% and often 2% of total coverage...

    Southern Home Indoc

I'm in the Milwaukee ecosystem so will consider this. I see they make M12 and M18 versions, although the M18 looks like overkill so I'll probably go M12. Multiple tanks for using it with lawn product as well as bug product would be nice.
