    Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w30

The darn half sized blue shop towel rolls frustrate me to no end.

2025 Hyundai Palisade new engine oil changes - glitter for how long?

Yes, definitely an overthink on the extra changes (I acknowledge), but I'm glad I got the material out. Also, 5w30 is the specd viscosity, I'm not deviating there.

2025 Hyundai Palisade new engine oil changes - glitter for how long?

Hey all, did the 6th oil change today at 13250 and glitter is basically gone. It was mostly gone at the 10700 change, but clear again now. I did this change early cause we're about to go on a long road trip. Sticking with 3k MI oil changes on this one. Have loved the car. Change mileage...

When to replace an "old" car....

I really appreciate it. She's always been pretty frugal, she saves really well. She likes the idea of a new(er) car but hates the idea of being broke for a new(er) car. I think this one will get her where she needs to be, and she does really like it. Thanks for the insight.

2025 Toyota Tundra SR Loaner - I really hate this truck!

I daily a 2022 Tacoma I bought new. It's been reliable and I suppose it retains high resale value also, those are the only good things I can say about it.

    Looking for a File Set

I think it kind of depends on use. The biggest thing that I've had forced myself to do is keep the files that I use for general purpose in the files that I use for metal separate. Otherwise inevitably really end up wrecking all of my files as I try them on metal. This is my general set: REXBETI...

When to replace an "old" car....

Yeah Jeff, this is really what it came down to. We didn't really want to spend $20,000 just because. We could justify a $10,000 expense as a just because, however. At 10K though she wasn't going to get a lot of the features that her existing Lexus has - and I don't know that we were getting a...

When to replace an "old" car....

You know, the oems are great quality, but failures do happen. I think the miles will make it show up - I just hope it's nothing terminal (I don't think it is).

When to replace an "old" car....

I really appreciate all the advice. We're going to keep the car. I'm going to give her a monthly list (and set reminders so I ask)... Which really is oil, coolant, power steering fluid levels. I'll change the oil before the drive, then after we get there, so she will be good to go. The...

When to replace an "old" car....

I do appreciate this - I trust the rx330 in a serious crash. It didn't rate as well in headrests, but otherwise it tested very well. It's a good point, however!

When to replace an "old" car....

I don't, although I've done a few flush/fills and changed filter. The fluid that came out first time wasn't bad. Only transmission issue is a pretty occasional light throttle 2-3 funkiness. Oh, and going to florida.

When to replace an "old" car....

I do appreciate this. The bottom line is that if we absolutely had to we could go and buy her a car. A 20K purchase wouldn't break us. But I also don't want to replace a car just because. The 1800 mile distance has me thinking about this differently than if she was 3 hours away. Discussing it...

When to replace an "old" car....

That's the plan as of today - new car or same. And the thought of a local mechanic research while I'm there definitely crossed my mind. I know, and my first year I didn't take mine either. That thought has rolled around in my head.

When to replace an "old" car....

Honestly really is the perfect college car. And I hate the idea of saddling her with a savings drain right before she goes (even with us helping.) She has been an exemplary student and wonderful child. We are footing the bill for college, so we too are in a bit of a crunch!
