Switching to HPL PCMO 5W-30 has reduced the oil consumption in my Buick from ~1qt/5k mi (since new) to ~1qt/10k mi. I believe the consumption is through the PCV system. Your engine is in good hands with that oil, stick with it. Did you run a OCI with HPL Engine Cleaner 30 first?

This stuff is fantastic on the back end of a piston soak.

Same thing happened to me with a VR6. #1 cylinder held fluid, none of the others did. After a multiple day soak + 30min drive, tried that cylinder again and B12 passed through in minutes. Conclusion: gummed up rings didn't let it through.
