I liked the build of the filter I currently have in service, it looked perfect. So, got another one and they'll be lifetime replaced with FCP. However, not super thrilled about this one, pleats ended up at an angle. Anyone have up to date efficiency numbers for Mahle? From their website...

Had this in my Buick for 17k miles and it's been fine. Same quality as the original plug with the addition of the magnet.

It's because oxygen is a component of an ester group. So the ester oils are inherently oxidized to some extent. Just not the bad kind of oxidized. 😄

I tried the straight to HPL approach with my VR6 and just ended up burning a lot of expensive HPL oil. Wish I had gone straight to the piston soak - which I did later and so far have zero oil consumption after. Now running HPL to keep the rings clean from here on out. I would just do the piston...

Figured updating in this thread is better than starting a new one. After my patience ran out with the oil consumption and the I did a piston soak as noted above. Well, it's been 1k mi since that and I'm happy to report the oil level has not dropped at all. Will continue to monitor.

I had a similar experience with my Buick. Ran EPR at the last oil change, and oil was clean after 1k mi when it would usually look dark. Now after 5k it looks like used oil, but not like it would have previously.

+1 for Bosch in both cars.

I coated our granite countertops with ceramic coating. Made them super shiny and stain proof. If you're looking for other ideas.

Since this has digressed. Not sure how much help this is, but this sounds like a total organic carbon problem. Naturally occurring bacteria have enough food to consume all the available oxygen in the aquifer you're tapped into. Once the dissolved oxygen is gone, they go looking for other sources...
