Castrol synthetic blend vs Pennzoil synthetic blend

Interesting point. Back in 2001 or 2002 when I first noticed 5W-20 motor oil being sold in Pep Boys I went home and did a search on Google and read that Honda was recommending the use of 5W-20 motor oil in some models where previously they were requiring the use of 5W-30. I believe the new...

What ACEA A3 oil would you recommend for '98 BMW M3?

0W-30 Castrol Syntec has an HT/HS viscosity of 3.5 cP. "GC" Syntec has been shown to be very shear stable. If this were my car I would do an Auto-Rx cleaning with a "Dino" API CI-4/SL 15W-40 motor oil. After that I would give either Castrol Syntec 5W-50 or Mobil 1 15W-50 a try. I agree with...

10w60 oil in motor designed for 5w40

I agree. If you are convinced that 5W-40 is too thin you might consider using a 5W-50 motor oil. Mobil, Castrol, and Valvoline all sell synthetic 5W-50 motor oils in Europe. Mobil 1 5W-50 PDF

Rx? Does it work? I need help!

Don't worry if you don't have two more ounces of Auto-Rx, just add some more oil untill you bring the oil level to the full mark on the dipstick and you will be fine. Most of the Auto-Rx that you currently have in your oil will still be mixed in with the remaining oil after you replace the...

Mobil1 Dexron III vs Dexron III H spec

This is just an educated guess but I think that the old Mobil 1 ATF you have is probably much better than a typical off the shelf Dexron III (H) or Mercon V transmission fluid. I have a 2001 Mazda 626 2.0L automatic and I noticed that the Mobil 1 ATF that I now use is far superior to the Mercon...

Rx? Does it work? I need help!

Here is another link about the Chrysler 2.7L V6. I thought that the post from Mike Sa was interesting. His comments are in the tenth post. web page Since some of the problems Chrysler is having with this engine may be heat related does anyone think that using 5W-20 motor oil would help reduce...

Rx? Does it work? I need help!

Here is an interesting link about the Chrysler 2.7L V6. Scroll down to the section about Rod Bearing Failures. web page Be sure to leave the Auto-Rx in for at least 1,500 miles. It would be a good idea to replace the oil filter after about 750 miles since it may become clogged. It would also be...

Rx? Does it work? I need help!

Some of the discount brands of motor oil don't meet current specs. All the major brands should meet the ILSAC GF-4 specification. Umbali, have you decided what you are going to do? What engine do you have in your Sebring? Are you going to use Auto-Rx? It will be of interest to many here on...

Rx? Does it work? I need help!

Do you have the 2.7L V6 in your Chrysler? That engine is prone to developing sludge. Give Auto-Rx a try. Be sure to follow the directions carefully. If you have the 2.7L V6 I suggest using an ILSAC GF-4 5W-30 motor oil. Using too thick of an oil may contribute to an oil starvation problem. Do a...

    LC and Sticky Lifters??

Auto-Rx gets my vote also. Be sure to leave it in for at least 1,500 miles (2,400 kilometers) and use a conventional oil for the rinse phase. I have had great success with Auto-Rx. I was able to stop a rear main seal leak on my wifes 1997 BMW 318i. Others on this message board have reported...

    Mercon V vs. Dexron III?

Like medic said some fluids are rated for both Mercon V and Dexron III. Most likely the shop that performed the work on your Subaru used a fluid that is rated for both. Now that the new Dexron III "H" fluid is out it makes sense to produce a fluid that is rated for both Mercon V and Dexron III...

    GC specs

The ACEA A3/B3/B4 version of Castrol Syntec 0W-30 has a HT/HS viscosity of 3.5 cP @ 100 C. I don't know the Noack % but it must be equal to or less than 13% to meet the toughtest ACEA specs.
