For the purposes of oil selection, not really. Friction/wear peaks around E50, which is generally below the mandatory minimum for pump E85.
The main problem with pump ethanol is the quality of the gasoline used as the basis for the mixture, as well as potential water contamination from less...
The bearings used in your motor are the same spec going back to older EA888.3 spec'd for 5w40. Only difference is your oil pump has less teeth so it spins faster in order to handle 0w20 which was spec'd for CAFE. Absolutely no reason a 40 grade won't be fine.
Nothing wrong with that oil for e85, at least for mild street use (225F is nothing). The guy who helped build my motor has a 2018 GTI at 700+ whp on e85 running M1 0w40. Stock bearing clearances, and without the advantage of your faster-spinning oil pump. No abnormal bearing wear over several...
Out of warranty I see no reason to avoid it. It's not unreasonably thick, and is by all accounts an excellent lubricant.
I suggest using the Autozone filter bundle for 5x 1qt jugs with a filter, makes them pretty affordable.
Vollsynthetisch. The german definition of full synthetic. I did not say 100% group IV.
I didn't know about Top Tec 4210, that's an interesting one. Nothing similar in 40 grade sold here unfortunately.
They have the same issue as Ravenol, limited distribution in the US. Helps drive prices up (though vollsynthetisch 5w40 is actually not bad, similar pricing to Leichtlauf). Looks very good though, on paper anyway.
Liqui Moly never makes sense. If you're buying it because it's cheap via FCPEuro... they sell better oils.
@ROWEMotorOilUSA when are you guys gonna partner with them? People love that "made in germany" label.
Order lots of euro parts from lithuania/latvia via ebay. Can't say I've ever had a problem. Obviously every seller is different and you can't generalize about an entire country but if they have great reviews, why not?
