    A question and a tip!

I had a flat last night, and despite the fact I had rotated the 2006 Forester's tires only a month ago, I could not kick the rear wheel off with just sneakers on. I was about to hand tighten the lugs back on and move it a bit when (this is the tip!) I swung and rammed it with the spare and it...

The black margin around auto glass???

Also, I had called four auto glass shops and they all guessed. Most humerus reply was "That is just the way they come!"

The black margin around auto glass???

The other possibility is it is suppose to absorb radiant and/or solar heat thus expediting window defog, although in the summer or south that would seem to be counter productive. Hopefully we'll have an auto engineer or an auto glass person stop by and we'll get a detailed explanation!

The black margin around auto glass???

Almost all auto glass, be it windshield, side panels or rear, have a black margin around them now days. Some areas, especially on windshields, have portions checkered or dotted. What is the purpose of the black margin and also the checkered areas? Thank You!

Does the Fram Tough Guard filter have

cardboard end-caps? I normally use Baldwin, however, the parts store didn't have one today so I just got a Hastings. I had to go to WMart for some other things, so while I was there I was reading the TG box and it seemed up to todays standard. If you guys give me the OK, I may try one next oil...

The new M1 is $23.82/5quart at Wallys. Flow?

Not a bad price, however, nothing on the jugs pertaining to flow at x temp, nor can I find anything on their web site. I've used M1 for almost 30 years and knowing it would flow when it was below zero was a big selling point. Not sure I would consider the new product until this is clarified.

Insulating the air intake? Radiant heat!

Some real interesting views. I never realized the air was passing at that rate, however, I do admit the intake manifold/plenum temp on a 5.9 is off the charts, so the air charge temp may not really matter. I actually removed the insulation today because the IA motor on the throttle body went...

Insulating the air intake? Radiant heat!

A year ago I completely insulated the intake on my 03, 5.9 Dakota. Since the daks aren't plumbed into the fender well, I removed the convolute that was attached to the air cleaner housing and plumed right into the fender well (like most trucks!). But I do wonder if it was a waste of time since...

Is insulating the intake a waste of time & $?

About a year ago, mostly for the fun of tinkering with my 5.9 Dakota, I completely insulated my intake to the throttle body. From McMaster Carr I purchased four inch intake and one inch insulation, plumbed it into the fender well, insulated everything, air cleaner box and all. I also rapped it...
