    Home Exterior Colors

This house about a block from me just went up for sale. When they painted it several years ago, I questioned how the HOA architectural committee even approved it, assuming they did. The color looks muted in this picture off Zillow. The front and bottom floor are brick, but the rest of the house...

    EVs on Long Road Trips

My neighbor has made two trips from their home in central Texas to Wisconsin, first in their Tesla, then their Rivian. The only "downside" is they say it takes about half a day longer than when driving an ICE vehicle (spread out over two days). If you plan for it, no big deal. My wife and I are...

    Carquest and MicroGuard oil filters

I could have remembered backwards. It was several months ago when I bought mine. Regardless, they are physically different when looking at them, even if the black material is silicone. The Made in Vietnam use a P-style gasket. Are the Made in Chinese the same? Or do they use the flat-style gasket?

    Carquest and MicroGuard oil filters

I don't know about the Microgard Selects, but Carquest Premium comes in two flavors, Made in Vietnam and Made in China. The Made in China has a black (nitrile?) ADBV. You have to open each box to see what's inside. The AAP manager let me open all that were on their shelves on the floor and in...

    Honda recalls 1,049,883 vehicles ...

Nobody's building cars like they used to be. Previous engineering standards used to start with building each car's systems. e.g. engine, transmission, controls, etc. to the best of their ability with available materials to achieve the goals for each model design, e.g. power, performance, etc...

When you don't feel like DIY oil changes anymore

At least Lawrence is still relatively small, where having a good reputation is necessary for continued business. Some businesses don't really care about repeat customers, just going for all they can squeeze from each and every customer victim.

Redline SI-1 vs Amsoil Pi vs Amsoil Quick Shot

Sounds like Amsoil Upper Cylinder Lubricant is what you may be looking for using continuously. Looks like their price for this UCL has gone up almost 40% in the past year. Ouch! What part of the USA do you live? I have two cases which I doubt I'm now going to use due to a shift in what I've...

Right to Repair - Ford’s Jim Farley

Royalty Auto's Sherwood went on a bit of a rant yesterday on this subject. Also saw a clip yesterday where the President mentioned several auto manufacturers' CEOs, including Farley, paying him a visit due to this subject. He then started telling stories of people he grew up working on their own...

When you don't feel like DIY oil changes anymore

And reminds us we're not as young as we used to be. Not going to let that stop me now/yet.

Use 2024 Pilot In Alldata DIY for 2025 Pilot?

I have been watching Alldata DIY to include my 2025 Pilot for a long time, but they still don't list it. Since the 2023-2025 Pilots are basically the same vehicle, would you be comfortable using the 2024 model data? I currently use Mitchell1 for the 2025 Pilot, but find them clunky compared to...

HPL PCMO 5w30 - Subaru Outback 3.6r using oil

I stand corrected. My bad. I guess I was thinking of their OE formula of old.

HPL PCMO 5w30 - Subaru Outback 3.6r using oil

I'm going to throw out what I think may be happening, having used Amsoil products for 50 years. Their XL line of oils are a synthetic blend, so also contains "conventional" oil. A combination of factors have led to your vehicle having some carbon deposits. The HPL is now. beginning to remove...

    Blackstone alternatives?

Of course not. Too many variables which I have no control over and too few data points. It's more entertainment than a tool which to make hard-and-fast decisions, though it might give indications if something needs further investigation.
