Oil temp increase immediately after oil change?

Had my oil changed through Audi's maintenance plan. For the last 3000 miles, I've run Pennzoil Ultra 5W40 and I believe the dealer uses Castrol Syntec LLX 5w40. I noticed my oil temp went up by 15-20 degrees F for about 200 miles after the oil change. The oil temp increase has slowly been...

Hoping the Pennzoil Ultra 5W40 will fare a bit better after the next 4k miles. Otherwise, I may look into Motul Ester based motor oils.

Switched from Syntec to Pennzoil Ultra oil temp up

For what it's worth... with about 75 miles on the oil, it looks like the temperature differential has gone down by about 5 degrees. Just got my UOA back from Blackstone.. looks like my original syntec 5w40 with only 4k on it had thinned out a decent amount.. could be the answer.

Switched from Syntec to Pennzoil Ultra oil temp up

Just did an oil/filter change, wemt from Castrol Syntec 5w40 to Pennzoil Ultra 5w40 on my Audi V8 and overall oil temps are up by 5-10 degrees •F. Is this normal? My freeway cruise oil temp is about 208-214 F and idling or stop and go it is around 204 F. Thanks folks!

FSI Engines - Audi RS4 Engine Oil-Related Deposits

I did read that US gasoline tends to have higher levels of sulfur and ethanol. I'm wondering if this is part of the issue.

FSI Engines - Audi RS4 Engine Oil-Related Deposits

How come the oil specified for the RS4 in the US is 5W-40 (502) and the rest of the world it looks like a 5W-30 (504/7) oil is specified. I read the 504/7 specification superceded 502.. so is it OK to use a 5W-30 in the US? Would I be causing any increased wear etc? Thanks folks!
