    Motul 300V 5W-50 - 5,000km - 2004 Porsche 911 996.2 3.6L

Yea. I don't see why not. I was running Motul 8100 XCESS 5W-40 but I could get it to thin out on hard runs. The wider community wants 3bar at 3000 RPM and 3.5bar minimum (so if you're at 7000 RPM at least 3.5 bar) I was getting it down to 2.6-2.9 range. I was also getting pressure drops on...

    Motul X-Cess Gen2 5w-40, ~5k miles, Porsche 991.1 C2S

Looks like it has sheered down a little. the VOA, which I did for this oil last year, was 13.3 cSt at 100. Your sample down t 11.6 otherwise looks great

thanks. manufacturer claims 17.9 my VOA 17.5 and with the dilution only down to 17.0. very happy I asked Lake Speed Jr and it advised that POA/Ester oils retain fuel dilution more (I guess he means it doesn't burn off as easily)

Happy to hear thoughts on the below. Note the last three samples are the same oil (300V). The 4th on the 28th march 2025 was Motul's 8100 5W-40 VOA for this oil can be found VOA Motul 300V 5W-50

I had the oil re-tested. The previous sample was from a can that was used by the mechanic. He might have left the lid off for an unknown length of time. This sample is fresh. @himemsys - perhaps worthy of the database?

Porsche injectors are $750 each (AUD)... I got Bosch $140 each The rate of fuel dilution is the same as it was with the previous injectors

TBN is fine and viscosity is fine.... so I'll keep it in for the moment is what I'm thinking I'll pull another sample next week. I've a 1200km drive this weekend. That will be 1500ish since this test (I did 250km Sunday just past)

Hi @fantastic My car is definitely port injection The 996.1/996.2/997.1 are all port injected. Porsche went to direct injection for the 997.2 refresh (which changed the engine completely away from the horrible integrated dry sump system of the M96/M97 architecture. I don't track the car. I...

ALS is the lab Note: their First TBN was 0.6 using FTIR method. When queried they switched to ASTM D2986 to get TBN to be 8.4. They are aware Oxidation is high but have no alternative test. Ester? They also note it is listed as racing oil but mentioned, over the phone, the high additive package...

Yea I did notice that and asked them to check the results. This was a virgin sample but after the mech has opened the bottle and serviced the car. So perhaps some crap got in?

The top (second line) Visc@40 and Visc@100) is what is reported on the SDS. The tested Visc@40/Visc@100 is the last two rows of data.

I bought my sample kit from https://www.autosphere.com.au/product/oil-analysis-test-kit/ Perhaps there's different options from ALS but this company picks the one that gives me more info?
