The dealer is charging $690 to replace the valve seals. Did hot indicate any other additional work. Seemed high to me, but I'm no expert.

Toyota had so many complaints regarding this problem, they extended there offer to 150k miles of 10 years. I guess it was cheaper than a recall.

Yeah, I get the feeling they are taking advantage of the situation and see it as an opportunity to have the consumer have additional work done that really isn't needed.

My Scion Xb failed its warranty enhancement oil consumption test and Toyota will be replacing the piston, piston rings and related components at no cost. The dealer doing the work is offering/recommending additional services be done at a "reduced" price. They want $880 to replace the valve...
