    New Truck recommendation

Just realized I never posted what I got--went with a Ridgeline Sport AWD after all. Did a lot of research and realized that my mountain road trips would be relatively few when all is said and done, and thus the Ridgeline was all the truck I needed. The tie breaker was the back seat---it puts...

The Ridgeline is pretty much the Pilot with a different body. From personal experience, it will shake itself apart if you frequent rough mountain roads. I don't mean to offend anyone, but it's basically a station wagon that looks like a truck--not for serious use.

Those are all 4wd prices, for dealers with ratings above 4.0--check out the various car websites (don't buy from rip-off dealers). I just confirmed the price on the Frontier SV, though the dealer does add a $600 doc fee.

Thanks everyone. It seems I'm narrowing down to a Titan ($40K new); an SV Frontier ($33K new) or a GM2500 ($47K)--all base models and best prices found. Leaning towards the Frontier, just because I'm done with expensive vehicles. The pause I have is which one will last the longest with fairly...

I considered the Titan-still am. Why do these things sell in such low numbers?

I think I need body on frame--the mountain roads are pretty tough.

Will only need room for 5 when the kids come to visit (not very often).

I've owned a LOT of cars in my 60 plus years--never had one make those noises before. Plus at the time is was a relatively new engine, and a GM product. Enough said. Further, I got rid of it during the Covid vehicle shortage, so the bath I took was very, very mild.

I usually have bad luck with used (even toyotas) so now I only buy new.

    New Truck recommendation

Hi all. I have a Pilot and a Camry. Recent circumstances require me to get rid of my Camry and replace it with something that has more utility. A pickup truck seems to fit the bill. 80% of the time this will be used for mall crawler duty, but I will need to drive on poor mountain dirt roads...

Hypothetically, who makes a good 5w-20 for a modern, non-turbo engine?

I do like to redline it. A lot, as it's rather slow otherwise.

Thanks for the suggestions. The 1200 mile trip will be made about 4 times a year, so about once every 5K OCI. I was planning on using Castrol Edge or PP, but wanted to know if there was anything better.

Hypothetically, who makes a good 5w-20 for a modern, non-turbo engine?

Toyota 2.5L 4 cylinder, non turbo. OCI would never be more than 5,000. Trips would vary tremendously from city (5 miles or so) to 1200 miles on the highway continuously.

I know many on here think 0w-20s have better formulations than 5w-20s. But just out of curiosity, who is making the highest quality 5w-20 right now (excluding the "premium" brands that cost a fortune). Just curious.
