2015 Yamaha VXR-Maxima PWC, Amsoil, or Other

Thanks for the opinions, Guys. I'm after better performance than the 4W without spending too much, so the Rotella looks like a good option. I like the idea of a synthetic, but am concerned about the 0w-40 weight of the T6. The T5 15W-40 falls right between the 10w-40 and 20w-40 Yamaha viscosity...

2015 Yamaha VXR-Maxima PWC, Amsoil, or Other

Manual recommends 10W-30, 10W-40, 20W-40, or 20W50, so Rotella Triple 15W-40 or Rotella T5 15W-40 might be a good economical choice, offering better protection than the Yamalube 4W?

2015 Yamaha VXR-Maxima PWC, Amsoil, or Other

Hey Guys. Just did my 10 hour OC on this new ski with the factory Yamaha 4W. I'm new to marine engines, and the fact that this NA ~7600 rpm 20 valve inline 4 has 2 qts. of the 5.5 qt. oil capacity left in the sump each OCI has me wondering if the added expense of a full synthetic may be...

I know this isn't the prefered method, but it's all I have time to do now. How about some image hosting? I'd bet it would grow the database. Here's the 1st UOA on the new FA20 engine:

Thanks for all the good info, Guys. I'm ~ halfway through a 6K mile road trip, which should put me just under the factory recommended 7.5K OCI when I send [censored] a sample. I post up the report when I get it.

Don't know of any reason those wouldn't work. Maybe we could compare UOAs. Congrats.

Thanks, but I meant testing intervals. Any point in UOA on the first OC? How much of a negative are magnetic drain plugs in UOAs?

Thanks for the feedback, Guys. I've gotten lots of great info here over the years. Got a kit from Blackstone inbound & will probably run several UOAs. Any suggestions on UOA intervals?

    Oil for New Subaru FA20

Hey Guys, Just added a new Scion FR-S to the stable, and Subie is new to me. The car has the new FA20 boxer in it (car is also sold as Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT86-Scion badges in US only), and a search for that motor turns up zilch-too new. Car is NA. My instinct is to start with M1 5w-30, or...
