I don't think the OP mentioned the service history of this CVT but if it has 150K on the original fluid it's done well. If it's had a few D&Rs in that 150K another one might help.

PSA has an excellent deal at the moment ....a CZ P10C for $339. Sadly (for me living in the restrictive state of NY) it comes with 2 15 round mags. If this came with 2 10 round mags I'd be all over it.

Since SEAT is now part of VW group I would assume that 1.8T is a version of VW's EA888 engine? If so I would probably stick with the Shell UH 5w40. Just my opinion.

I'd try Redline D6 ATF and see if it holds up better....expensive but very good. I plan on using it next in my Ford's 6F35 as I near 100K.

Another charity that I've donated to after a disaster is 'Samaritan's Purse'. While I think a lot of so called 'religious' people are frauds (Joel Osteen comes to mind) I do think Franklin Graham is sincere. I say this because during the pandemic 'Samaritan's Purse' set up a huge tent hospital...

I get several letters a week seeking charitable donations. I think that once you 'donate' your name goes out to others seeking money. We have donated to St. Judes Children Hospital, the Leukemia Society, American Cancer Society etc....but lately we've given almost entirely to Tunnel to Towers...

At least Glock differentiates pistols numerically..ie: 17,19, 26,42, 43 etc...I can deal with the fact that 2 different pistols use the same number ie: 43 and 43X. S&W's system confuses me.

You won the bid on 7/19 and had the pistol on 7/21 (or maybe even 7/20)....wow...I'm jealous. In NY you wouldn't have it for months between going to the FFL and then having it added to your permit.

OT but related....I'm a fan of S&W pistols but I wish they would make their naming system less confusing. Calling almost every pistol an M&P, Shield, 2.0 etc...makes it difficult to distinguish one from the other.

That's a very cool bike. A 689cc parallel twin is an ideal bike powerplant IMO...My first and still favorite bike was my (bought new) 1977 Yamaha XS650D...an air cooled twin. If I were still into biking I'd be all over that XSR700.

I used Motorcraft filters on my 2 Fords when WM sold them for $3.97.....when they jumped to $8.97 I said bye bye. Motorcraft also doubled the price of their spark plugs on RA.

Another thing to keep in mind is that those who "don't save at all' get free nursing home care while those "who save way too much" have to pay exorbitant fees for the same care unless they got rid of their savings 5 years previously. I have an elderly neighbor who has been in a 'facility' for 2...

The OP doesn't mention the year of his son's new Crosstrek but units built before 2015 were known for burning oil due to 'low tension rings'. Subaru supposedly fixed the issue around 2015. I agree that 5w30 synthetic would be my choice for a Subaru Boxer engine.
