new 2026 2500hd 6.6 gas help me decide what brand oil to run in 5w30

If you're looking for readily available off-the-shelf oils, either Mobil1 5w-30 ESP/ Euro or Pennzoil 5w-30 Euro L. The 6.6 is a workhorse and uses old-school medium tension piston rings instead of the low-tension that most engines use today and can definitely handle the higher HT/HS of the Euro...

What synthetic oils were available in 1982?

Hey everybody, thanks for all the great info. Just thought I'd give a conclusion this whole thing in case people were curious- my buddy went back to the same seller for some misc odds and ends and garnered a bit more info, other than the factory fill the original owner used Mobil 1 5W-30 in the...

What synthetic oils were available in 1982?

I think I've actually heard of CAM2 oils, were they not a synthetic blend back then? I could be totally mistaken, didn't think they were full synthetic.

What synthetic oils were available in 1982?

Pardon if this is in the wrong forum, mods feel free to move if so. I helped a buddy pick up a high-mileage but original 4.1 4-barrel Buick V6 out of a rear-ended 82 Riviera for his same-year Olds Tornado project he's working on. It'd sat for 5 years but with some starting fluid and jumper...

    Post your latest oil change

1994 Buick Skylark 3.1 V6 Out- unknown oil previous owner ran for at least 13,000-15,000 km's, very black and a litre low. Off- a black Prime oil filter, never seen or heard of the brand before. Looked and felt cheap, was leaking pretty badly at the seal. In- A mix of 2.5 litres of Maxlife...

    Town Car 4.6 oil choice

Honesty? Run VPR 5w30 for the first four years (Assuming 1 oil change a year @5000 miles a year) with your choice of filter. You can order a 3 pack from Walmart for a good price, or maybe there might be sales elsewhere. After that though, you should be fine to run any synthetic 5w30 you like...

    The Honda Oil Filter Thread

Just FYI in case it'll help anybody, but the Honda LB15 1.5 4 bangers (NA in the Honda Fit, 2015-2020 and presently turbocharged in the Civic and Accords) can take the larger Fram XG3593a's no problem. I use them exclusively on the wife's Fit to up the meager 3.5 litre/ quart oil capacity to...

AC Delco Universal Coolant not suited for older GM vehicles?

As we're up here in Canada, it gets around 40 degrees (104f) in the summer and during the dead of winter with wind chill, can get as low as -40, so I figured the 60/40 mix was the way to go. (Has a factory block heater I'm sure will get some use this winter long as it still works).

AC Delco Universal Coolant not suited for older GM vehicles?

Thank you everyone for all the replies, its a great relief that it looks like we're good to go running this coolant.

AC Delco Universal Coolant not suited for older GM vehicles?

Long story short, my BIL and scored a deal on a 1994 Buick Skylark for $500 to share as a winter beater, only has 157,xxx km's/ 95,5xx miles on the odometer witht he 3.1 V6 and 4T60e overdrive transmission. I'm doing all the maintenance on this thing including a full coolant flush and refill...

First time for a New/ Newer car list

I'd respectfully disagree with avoiding Mitsubishi SUV's. The Outlander is a nice vehicle but if you're not getting the PHEV version, I'd definitely recommend the Eclipse Cross. it's roughly the same size as your older CR-V and the seats are incredibly comfortable. The 10 year/ 100,000 mile...

Test drove a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

2024 Eclipse Cross Owner here. Did a ton of research beforehand and both the wife and I came away quite pleased with our decision. Very peppy and comfortable, the infotainment stuff is easy to use and it probably has the best CVT transmisison I've ever driven. So far we've put on 380 kms and...

    2023 Outlander PHEV OCI

I would honestly go with the Mobil 1 Extended Performance and the Fram just for ease of availability. The additives would be fine for the start/stop function of the PHEV aspect of the vehicle.

Need Advice on a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross 4B40 oil Plan

No offense but that is totally wrong. I did a lot of research before buying and this a a full Mitsubishi product save the Jatco CTV transmission, and even that differs from Nissan in that it has a dipstick, a drain plug, and an external spin-on type filter in addition to the usual internal...
