Honda S2000 90k miles; 1k Miles on Penrite Racing 10w40

Thanks for posting. I run penrite racing 10w40 In my evo. We’ve probably been to the same track days over the last couple of years (Melb). I was considering trying Nulon racing 5w40. Where are you getting your oil analysis done?

Pentrite 10 Tenths Racing - PAO & Ester Query

Interesting thanks for the info. Were UOA's done to verify the viscosity?

Pentrite 10 Tenths Racing - PAO & Ester Query

Thanks for the reply. Is it possible to say if the oil looks like a good candidate based on that info or is is still dice-roll and UOA time? My application is a street/fun driven BMW with a 3L twin turbo straight 6 making ~166HP/L with oil temps around 120-130*C (248-266*F) at full noise.

Pentrite 10 Tenths Racing - PAO & Ester Query

Hi all, I have a question regarding Penrite's 10 Tenths Racing line of oils. It's an Australian company so you might not be familiar with them but they claim to have a very stout high performance gasoline engine/racing style oil line. Their additive pack is very strong with antiwear...

    BMW 6MT - Which oil?

For engine oil, I was put off by the 335i thread on here where the take home message was "if you have a BMW N54 engine it cooks oil and you will destroy the best synthetics in around 1000km". You can understand why cost may be an issue when facing such a ridiculous OCI. Turns out the thread is...

    BMW 6MT - Which oil?

I emailed redline and said my vehicle actually calls for MTF-LT-5. This surprised them as they thought every N54 equipped vehicle used only MTF-LT-3. Not the 1M, it seems. In light of this they revised their recommendation to their DCTF fluid...

    BMW 6MT - Which oil?

They don't recommend it themselves. Punch my car in and it says D6. Most use D4 but that said, redline themselves say MTL provides better wear protection, so it appears to be a choice between cold shift smoothness and wear protection. I'd like to hear from people who have used either fluid in a...

    BMW 6MT - Which oil?

The specs of redline D4 ATF quite closely approximate stock fluid in terms of viscosity but I have no data in terms of additive pack. Almost everyone uses D4, redline's site says D6, and MTL is used by bmw engine and gearbox builders alike. I'm leaning towards the MTL myself.

    BMW 6MT - Which oil?

Ok, weird I cannot edit that post. I'll just add this here from Redline's manual trans lubes PDF found here http://www.redlineoil.com/content/files/tech/Man%20Trans%20Lubes%2010-13-1.pdf Quote: D4 ATF and High-Temp ATF provides the gear protection of a GL-4 gear oil in an automatic transmission...
