I haven't heard the mention of Motoman in a long time. I knew him years ago and he built an engine for me. Great guy. The dude was REALLY good and creative and respected motor builder. His break in method was spot on and effective. Watched him do it on a dyno several times..
I am also curious about their motorcycle oil too. I have been a Redline user for years, often using their 10w40 car oil, sometimes their motorcycle oil. Never any issues with either one. Being a bit of a recent an HPL convert for my cars, I am burning through my old Redline stash in my bikes...
For me, going up one grade removes any doubt that the oil is thick enough for my 2.4T motor. And I like the smother and quieter engine. No harm, no foul.
There is a thread somewhere on Advrider where one of the members showed that two oil galleys, made by a drill, didn't line up correctly Basically severely limiting the oil flow to one of the lobes. It looked like a easy manufacturing error, but was obviously the problem on the engine that he...
I have a little over 10k on my 24 Tacoma. I am a few changes in, and just switched to HPL 5w30 PCMO. The motor now feels smooth as silk too. I'll probable switch to the HPL 0w30, but I have to work through a couple cases of the 5w30 first. I have similar concerns as you as far as OCI, I plan...
Looks like your lawn mower is in for a treat. To thin of oil you say? well, just smash a few fingers worth of moly grease in the fill hole and call er' good.
Correct, I did use a qt of the PCMO as a cleaner. Thanks for the answer. That sounds like a plan, a few thousand on this fill, change oil and inspect filter, then the usual longer OCI with full fill of PCMO after if the filter is good.
I just picked up a used 4runner with 74k miles and plan on using standard HPL PCMO 5w30 in it. It has a fresh fill of whatever the dealer bulk oil is, probably a bulk 0w20. Looking at the history, it seems like the dealer changed the oil every 10k miles. I drained one qt of dealer fill, then...
