6.7 cummins major fuel dullution in oil sample

out of curiosity, are you running straight petro diesel or a bit of bio? Thought I read somewhere that bio can be worse for oil dilution.

    Duramax 10k on Rotella 5W40 (pre T6) w/6% fuel

I did change the oil the same time I pulled the sample. Yes, this is the LB7, infamous for injector problems. The extended warranty is 7yr/200k mi, and I'm past the 7 yr mark. I've also posted this at a GM diesel forum and a hypermiling forum to try to estimate the probability of injector...

    2003 F350 ZF6 manual transmission fluid

FWIW, the my GM owners book calls out Allison TranSynd. It's ~ $40/gal. I think a lot of GM guys with the ZF use either TranSynd or the Amsoil counterpart (Torque Drive, I think) Not sure what the difference is between Ford's ZF S6 650 and GM's.

    2.5 Gallon Rotella T Jugs!

They're a tiny bit cheaper at Sams (~ $48/2). For my 02 duramax, and my dad's 06, 2.5 gal is exactly what it takes for a change, so you just dump it in (slowly, of course). I also like the 2.5 gal jugs for bringing back old oil.

    Needs Advice on Engine Oil

Quote: The simplified explanation is that this engine needs light oil so that during start-up, the oil will be able to reach the fuel injectors as fast as possible in order to initiate compression of the fuel for proper firing. That doesn't sound like a common-rail diesel to me. Common rail...

    Blitz Drive -on Ramps

Oh yeah, and for something the size of the diesel, the Blitz ramp was the only thing I could find that wasn't made (and priced) for much larger commercial trucks.

    Blitz Drive -on Ramps

I have 2 sets: Upgraded to the 12k set when I bought the diesel. Both work fine and are easy to stand up in a corner so they take up less floor space between uses. Only downsides: 1) There's a little rubber block under one end that always falls out. I've been too lazy to mess with glue or...

new diesel station: ok to use?

Shell's building a new gas station right on my way to work, sandwiched between the Menards and super Walmart. They've got a spot for a diesel price on the new sign. This will be my new station - it can't get any more convenient than this. The question I've got is this: Does anybody know how...

    Block heater operation

Mine (800-1000W) will heat the coolant about 20F in the first hour, with dimishing returns after that. If I leave it on all night it will end up about 70F above ambient. Anything beyond a couple hours and most of the heat I'm buying goes into the garage air (or outside air). It would be silly...

New Rotella 5w40 T6 at Advanced Auto

my local walmart has quarts of T6 for $5.77. There's still 1 gal left of the prev version before they (presumably) bring out the T6 gal. $19.50 here too.
