2017 Chevy Spark - New Tires

Driver is wanting to move into something bigger, more capable, and with a few more creatures comforts. The spark has been a decent car. It gets good gas mileage and is easy to service. But, it’s super loud, had pretty much no creature comforts, and is most definitely dangerous in the case of a...

2017 Chevy Spark - New Tires

Decided it was time for new tires on the ‘17 Spark. It’s driven by a family member and I’ve been saying for ~6 months that it’s time. This car has tiny tires, 185/55/R15s. In its lifetime, it has had three sets of tires, all of which were Firestone. We were always able to get a sizable discount...

    New WIX 51348 Cut Open

On the cutter this evening is a new WIX 51348. I got a shipment in of PG241s and honestly have no urge to run this filter. I would much rather see what it looks like. Filter has some black glue, as many of the WIX filters from the last several years have had. Pictures below.

Carquest Extended Protection P84502 used oil filter cut open - in service almost 14k miles

Thanks for all the C&P!. All Premium Guard filters look great, as always. I'll be moving to the EP filter for my boat this next year based off these fantastic C&Ps.

    Quantum Fuel Pumps

I’ve heard about them for marine applications. A lot of people recommend their Volvo Penta fuel pump for those engines as well as EFI swaps. Haven’t heard anything bad about them from those niches. However, that’s a pretty separate area than what you’re looking for I’m guessing. A lot of people...

    Premium Guard PG241 C&P 2 years 80hrs 22HP Briggs

Looks good, thanks! Just ordered a few for my mower. Fun fact, these filters fit a ton of Ford vehicles/engines as well as the NC Miata (half Ford). After seeing this, I’ll probably leave my filter on a whole season at a time and just change oil at the middle and end.

What are you working on today?

The ole' $500 auction Toro Z5000 was due for some new spindles, they were starting to get a tad bit crunchy and wobbly. It started to cut super weird. It's from ~2008, so I guess ~20 years on the same spindles is pretty good. The new spindles are the cheapest ones I could find on Amazon. They...

What are you working on today?

Trying to get the boat ready to go for the season. Probably nearing 70% fully restored/refurbisbed. Still have quite a bit on the interior to go. Mainly, I’ve upgraded the sound system after the old head unit fried. New 5 channel amp, subwoofer, etc. I’ll be adding two LiFePO4 batteries, auto...

2026 F250 7.3L Godzilla what is the recommended filter?

Made by one and the same nowadays with poor pleat spacing, poor glue jobs, and they hide their filtration data.

2026 F250 7.3L Godzilla what is the recommended filter?

Run any filter from Premium Guard. Those include CarQuest Premium, Microgard Select, and NAPA Gold. CarQuest Extended Performance and Mobil 1 filters also have fantastic build quality. If you like to order online, run this.

    Bridgestone Ultraweather Release

Bridgestone appears to be replacing the Weatherpeak with a new all-weather tire; the Ultraweather. I'm sure the recent release from Continental probably pushed Bridgestone to finally reveal their new all-weather tire. The Weatherpeak has been on the market for nearly four years. The new...
