anyone ran 16,000 mile oil change on land rover w Castrol Edge Professional EP 0W20/dealer oil?

Absolutely do not run more than 7500mi OCIs. Every AJV8 or SCV6 that follows the 10k (or more) interval needs timing chain servicing sooner than later.

It's time to play "What oil for"... 2011 Land Rover RR w/ 5.0 NA motor

I guess if you've done chains already and have been doing 5-6k OCIs since new, we can safely say the early guides are at fault and not the longer OCIs. I just sent my 5w30 sample to Blackstone and switched to Valvoline Euro 0w20 for this one. It seems quieter, but who knows. The injectors are...

It's time to play "What oil for"... 2011 Land Rover RR w/ 5.0 NA motor

Some people think they're the same motor, but they aren't. But to call it a Ford motor is misleading, its an AJV8. It's not available in any Ford branded products.

It's time to play "What oil for"... 2011 Land Rover RR w/ 5.0 NA motor

The Ford 5.0 and AJV8 are not the same motor. The AJV8 has Ford stampings/castings because its built in an old Ford plant while JLR was under Ford ownership. Many parts in those model year Rovers are interchangeable with Ford parts, but the motors are not Coyotes.

Looks like some M1 0w40 ESP will be my next change.

It's time to play "What oil for"... 2011 Land Rover RR w/ 5.0 NA motor

I did 6500 miles on liqui moly land rover spec 0w20, currently running motul 5w30 that meets the old non-GDI spec, but its SP. didn't seem to make a difference either way, but my brain likes the 5w30 better for the timing chain issues. A shorter OCI makes the biggest difference, really. Dont go...

    Using 5w-30 instead of 5w-20

0w20 LiquiMoly 6600 to Motul eco energy 5w30. Two totally different types of oil. Before that was using PUP 5w20.

    Using 5w-30 instead of 5w-20

Also just switched my LR4 from 0w20 (spec was "updated" from 5w20) to 5w30. Motor seems 100% the same, I feel happier knowing it's got a better additive pack to help the timing chain guides.

Land Rover STJLR.03.5003 (Euro oil) vs. API SP (U.S.)?

Motul 5w30 eco-energy carriers that spec and is available on amazon. I just bought two jugs for my LR4, going to give it a try over the 0w and 5w-20s recommended for that gen (4.4) of AJV8. I'd rather have the additives.

    Oil Spec STJLR 51.5122

If we drop ourselves into the Ford WSS-M2C-925A black hole, I think I'd end up settling on a WSS-M2C913-D spec. Motul ECO-nergy 5w30 is a pretty sweet spot between the "accepted" 0w20 LR spec's numbers and molasses-thick 5w50s. They make a specific 913D oil but you can't get that stateside...

What OCI's are you guys running on the Land Rover 5.0 V8 Supercharged engine?

Absolutely no longer than that. I'd keep it 6500-7000 max, which is what I do. If you're strictly or mostly city driving like another poster said, 5000 miles max. You'll have a happier motor in the long run.

    Oil Spec STJLR 51.5122

Most of the approval is just fuel economy and extended drain intervals, no? I really feel like HTHS is not a big deal on these motors, since the failures are occurring on both trucks that just idle around town with nannies dropping off and picking up kids from school, AND on 5.0SC F-Types that...

    Oil Spec STJLR 51.5122

Anything matching the JLR spec will include the fuel economy test. If you want the best protection, you want to go outside of that spec, IMO. I'm running Liqui Moly 6600 in my LR4 right now, not doing much driving since Thanksgiving and the truck will sit 2-3 days at a time until Summer. Going...

How's running the 0-40 been? I've been having good luck with PUP 5-20 in my V8 LR4.
