    Oil Spec STJLR 51.5122

I've been running my LR4 hard for the last 5 years and 70k miles (110k on the odd now) and just experienced my first failure... and it was the water pump. I wish I changed my oil more so it wouldn't have broken! (lol). Keep running the euro 0w40.

2019 Land Rover Range Rover L405 3.0 Supercharged V6 oil

Just did my third change on Castrol Euro 0w40 and I'm sticking with this from here on out. Engine seems real happy on it. 110k miles now. 6-7k OCI.

2019 Land Rover Range Rover L405 3.0 Supercharged V6 oil

Should be a few UOAs on the 5.0 V8 around, including mine. I've been using 0w40, and the V8 is essentially the same motor

2019 Land Rover Range Rover L405 3.0 Supercharged V6 oil

I'm running Castrol Euro 0w40 in my V8. As others said, short OCIs and weight+ detergent heavy oil.

STJLR.03.5006 - Liqui Moly Top Tec 6600 vs Valvoline Euro Vehicle

Mileage is 96,500 not 99,500... I have terrible handwriting. I used the same oil at this change, looks like this is what I'll be sticking with going forward.

2019 and up Volkswagen GLI EA888 - blowing smoke/valve stem seals, etc

IIRC EA888.4 is 24+ 23 and older Atlas/Tiguan is IS20 turbo, some other differences but still a gen 3.

2019 and up Volkswagen GLI EA888 - blowing smoke/valve stem seals, etc

Ah interesting, this specific issue only applies to this spec 2.0. I did see a lot of PCV issues regarding the GTI/GLI etc. The shop foreman had a lot of stories to tell. Taos 1.5 head gaskets, these 2.0s.... good time to make money if you're a VW tech.

2019 and up Volkswagen GLI EA888 - blowing smoke/valve stem seals, etc

Not exactly the same, but apparently a big issue on these is the oil separator in the PCV system. Just dropped out Atlas CS off with 29k miles on it with oil coming out of it everywhere. When this part fails it allows boost pressure into the crankcase, so not ideal. The shop manager said he had...

Oil take that comes full circle - Edge 0W-30!

Can’t find this stuff anywhere. Just bought another two jugs of the 0w40.

STJLR.03.5006 - Liqui Moly Top Tec 6600 vs Valvoline Euro Vehicle

A little over 5k miles now. I try to do 6-6500mi OCI. Actually yesterday morning I heard a startup rattle I never did before, but it could have been anything. These motors are so dang loud. Could have even been a little piston slap as this thing nears 100k miles on it. I have to keep telling my...

STJLR.03.5006 - Liqui Moly Top Tec 6600 vs Valvoline Euro Vehicle

Not yet, but I will. Currently in the truck for another 800 miles or so.

STJLR.03.5006 - Liqui Moly Top Tec 6600 vs Valvoline Euro Vehicle

Here is an analysis for the 6600. I also ran the Valvoline euro, but it was definitely louder and my gut just didn't like the oil. I didn't run a UOA on it. I'm running 0w40 Castrol euro at the moment. Prob switch to 0w40 M1 for the next change as it is cheaper and has similar specs.

    Oil Spec STJLR 51.5122

If you extrapolate all of the data (both the empirical and anecdotal) presented in this forum from the beginning of time there is only one truth. Change your oil and change it often. It doesn't even need to be the "best."

    Oil Spec STJLR 51.5122

Yes, it will make your head spin. I've hemmed and hawed over it as well. Without speaking to an engineer at JLR who designed the motor, we will never know what's best. The timing chain failure is something we all want to avoid in these motors, so that's what we are all trying to avoid. In the...

    Oil Spec STJLR 51.5122

I switched to 0w40 in my NA 5.0 after using the Valvoline 0w20. I didn't get that oil tested but it was noticeably noisier than the Motul 5w30 I used before it. I'm about 4500 miles into this run.

anyone ran 16,000 mile oil change on land rover w Castrol Edge Professional EP 0W20/dealer oil?

Absolutely do not run more than 7500mi OCIs. Every AJV8 or SCV6 that follows the 10k (or more) interval needs timing chain servicing sooner than later.

It's time to play "What oil for"... 2011 Land Rover RR w/ 5.0 NA motor

I guess if you've done chains already and have been doing 5-6k OCIs since new, we can safely say the early guides are at fault and not the longer OCIs. I just sent my 5w30 sample to Blackstone and switched to Valvoline Euro 0w20 for this one. It seems quieter, but who knows. The injectors are...
