    2027 GM 5.7 and 6.6 will spec 0w-30 oil

Correct. The news here is that the half ton variant (that replaces the 6.2) is ditching the 0w-20.

    2027 GM 5.7 and 6.6 will spec 0w-30 oil

I think LSJ said the LT engines were designed for 5w-30, so gotta be close.

Looks like the new Chevy/GMC 1500 V8s will use 0w-30 from the factory: GM-Trucks

    96 F150 Motorcraft FL-1-A C&P

One of our company vehicles is a 1996 F150 with the 4.9L I6 with ~75000 miles. My first time personally changing the oil/filter (after an unknown OCI schedule/oil type) was to Mobil 1 Extended Performance High Mileage 5w30 and this FL-1‐A filter in May 2025, with the intention of doing annual...

No, the rest of it seemed solid still. The filter material itself ripped when i tried.

Just have to scour the forum every few months to see which filter is the "best" at that time 😂

    90915-YZZN1 Failure/C&P

That one looked great. The denso is all I've put on this car over several changes, but this is the first change since I've had a cutter (or the reason to cut it)

    90915-YZZN1 Failure/C&P

Definitely not confidence inspiring, especially since the failed one was only from early '25.

Super small metallic flake in oil

I agree that its overkill, it's a truck that has sentimental value and don't mind paying more for oil.

Super small metallic flake in oil

I sure hope not! Haven't had any reason to believe that's the issue, knock on wood.

Super small metallic flake in oil

Good info. I just put in a magnetic drain plug and magnets on the filter to try to catch some of this. Should I dump this oil (2500 miles on it) to try to remove most of the flakes and hopefully the new magnets keep it under control with fresh oil? I hate the idea that its all circulating.
