Yep. And i'm going to stock up on the Mercon V. Right now this is the cheapest Mercon V you can get and it seems to have better reviews then Supertech and Motorcraft.
Don't know what's going on but Advance Auto Parts has a variety of oils on sale. I picked up Fram Mercon V for 4 bucks and differential oil for only 2 bucks.
The for sale oil is behind the counter. I saw the prices online then went to the store myself.
Probably haha. But honestly I don't even care. I have absolute love for the 4.6. Also, I don't race or anything like that.
If I was looking to race responsibly a 2020 GT500 or a 1987 Buick Grand National would be my choice. Wouldn't mind a Buick Regal with a Buick 455 stuffed into it either.
Will definitely post. I plan to pocket port the heads and clean up the runners also. That will add more CFM.
Nothing is cheap for a 4.6 which is why guys go straight to forced induction or a different engine all together. When done though 2V TF heads can flow more then the 3V engine.
So far...
Nice work. I decided to go all out. The only way to get real power from the ole 4.6 is Trickflow cylinder heads. My P71 is my forever car and I can do the labor myself so I'm looking at TF heads, L&M cams and long tube headers.
Aside from that 3.73 or 3.55 gears is the next best thing. I...
Don't worry about the cold start rattle. I have 2 of these vehicles and recently installed all new timing chains and sprockets. The cold start rattle is from the composite timing chain tensioners that are getting pumped up with oil upon engine start. It happens also after you change the oil...
I believe the truck has a different intake. I mean, it will fit but your throttle body linkage is different. The truck intake is designed for more low end torque.
I have a small business and sometimes real estate agents ask me to clean out the basements and such and it's amazing what some guys keep in basement for decades.
Found an old quart of unopened oil that you guys might like to see.
The best lower control arm ball joint is Motorcraft. 6W1Z3050A

But as you can see on Ford Parts Giant that it's ment for 2006 to 2011.
That said, I forgot to mention that replacing just the ball joints are a pain in...
If upper ball joints are bad replace the entire upper control arm. New Ford Motorcraft upper control arms are sold at Rockauto for about 70$ each. Bolts can be reused and you need L and R side. Do both at same time if you pull the trigger.
Your second question is correct.
Lower Ford OEM...
I'm not taking a chance on control arms failing catastrophically while driving down the road just to save a buck. I'm doing what the 2004 Ford workshop manual says to do so I don't have any problems.
I have two of these cars. You have one of the greatest and most reliable cars ever built.
I have also personally changed the intake manifolds on several 4.6 engines. Return the Dorman intake. It's junk. The intake will reduce your HP by at least 10HP and it's more difficult to install then the...
The individual ball joint is for the steel control arm that started to be used on the crown victorias around 2006 all the way through 2011.
Ford says this in the 2004 service manual that I have and I'm sure you can also find it online. Pressing out the ball joint on an aluminum control arm...
I have 2 of these panthers of the same year also (2004).
The 2004 models have aluminum control arms and so according to Ford the entire control arm has to be replaced to service the ball joint.
Go to rockauto and purchase 2 new control arms. MOOG is OK. They're about 150$ each. You will need L...
