Is *THIS* a proper method for replacing brake calipers without the need to bleed brakes?

Does this procedure actually work for replacing front brake calipers or rear drum brake cyclinders: Step 1: make sure that brake reservoir never runs empty, be ready to refill replenish as needed. Step 2: on new caliper, make sure to open the brake bleeding valve Step 3: unscrew brake hose from...

What is this sound? (suspension shocks)

clickable link: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/_Nm17lw1two That's the sound from a Bilstein inverted monotube damper---sounds like pop pop pop pop. Everything is tightened, there are no loose bolts or nuts. Is this a common noise from these types of dampers? So far, it's been functioning...

Why are some OEM parts only as remanufactured?

(examples: Toyota CV axles, Toyota starters, Toyota alternators, etc.) Yup, that's the question: what is it about the business of making these parts where it makes no sense to offer them as brand new vs. taking returned 'cores' and rebuilding/remanufacturing them? Control arms are offered as...

Metrix Premium brake rotors (seems to be worth the premium price.)

So, the humidity yesterday was about 80% in NYC at 50 degrees, the 3 days before that, it was fairly dry at about 40% humidity. Also, there was some light rain yesterday. I distinctly remember that the rotors would show a lot of rust after only a day or two. These seem to fair better :)

Metrix Premium brake rotors (seems to be worth the premium price.)

Recently installed these, this is how it looks after 4 days of just sitting. I'm not seeing any rust.. which is unusual because the Toyota OEM's would rust after only a day, and their replacement before these (Centric Premium rotors) would also rust just the same. These, however, have been...

Question: have you ever had to "repair" (aka modify) an oil dipstick before? Mine got stuck, finally got it out, but it won't go back in.

UPDATE: after a closer look, under powerful light, I can see that the dipstuck tube has RUSTED on the inside....... after filing down the dipstick, I was able to get it to go in and out with ease. It would have been extremely strange for a metal to have contracted on its own for no reason...

Already replaced with an aftermarket dipstick-----same problem. I doubt a factory Toyota OEM dipstick will resolve the issue. I'm mostly just confused about how the dipstick tube can contract over time, it's strange metallurgy.

Question: have you ever had to "repair" (aka modify) an oil dipstick before? Mine got stuck, finally got it out, but it won't go back in.

https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/21pKt6mv5aL._AC_.jpg The part in yellow is modified by sanding it down with a file. It's a rather strange problem. The oil dipstick became stuck, I had to use a tool for leverage to pry it out, and of course it won't back in. So, either the dipstick became...

Car sales question: how do you minimize the risk that your potential buyer will.. crash your car (during the test drive.)

Yeah, that's the question. I'm not seeing too many complaints online about this sort of thing happening, so it seems like pretty low risk but many car buyers are people who haven't driven before, or haven't driven in a while----that's why they are seeking a used car. Is it mostly a non-concern?

220K on our beloved 2006 TSX

Hey, question for OP: do you think a refreshed 2006-2008 TSX is a good city car? How's the torque/drivability from a dead stop?

    Brake Fluid Shelf Life

Good question: people drive with 10 year old brake fluid in their cars, that fluid is probably more degraded in use, than sealed in a bottle.. I think you're good (just an opinion.)

I spent about 1.5 hours JUST TO inserting brake pads into a brand new caliper. Do I need to redo it again? A few queries.

I am reminded, YET AGAIN, how simple things can become so complex once you actually do it. Question 1: How much brake lubricant is acceptable on brake pads? As it is right now, there a few spots with a thin film of brake lubricant, I wiped it off carefully so as to not introduce more brake...
