    Picked up new Forester today.

Nice car. You have the official CO vehicle. Looks very versatile. Hoping she's kind to you and lasts a long time.

    Bought a new 2023 Mazda CX-5

The cloth seats seem fine to me, but I also have a 2009 Mazda 5 Sport. I don't own any luxury vehicles, so ignorance is bliss I suppose. Black cloth. No sunroof.

    Bought a new 2023 Mazda CX-5

I got the base level. It's the 2.5 S with cloth seats and no longer available in 2024. I didn't need any more bells and whistles and felt it was less electronic gizmos and items to break.

    Bought a new 2023 Mazda CX-5

This is the first brand new car I ever purchased. I said I would never buy a brand new car, but I never experienced a used car market like the one I have faced over the last few years. I held out as long as I could waiting on a deal to come around. Problem is one never came, so decided to buy a...

    New car~?

Eventually you will need something newer, so now is the time to start saving. You can still keep the older car when it comes time.

Is there such a thing as an unreliable U.S. new car today?

modern ones. No major issues with the 90s Maximas aside from oil burning. The Xterra died from a blown head gasket at 155k. The ‘02 Maxima was a manual, luckily, but had some electrical gremlins and oil leaks. It ran ok for 80k mi we had it. It seems Nissan took a turn for the worst when they...

    Mazda 3 - 1st gen review after ~3yrs

Same. My 2.3 in the 5 has 140k+ and no oil usage. Solid engine and car. This and a 2005 ford focus (believe it or not) are the most reliable vehicle I have owned. I think the engine in the focus may be a Mazda engine though (duratec)

    Mazda 3 - 1st gen review after ~3yrs

Dremel three notches with a dremel on the back side of the stick. I did this to my 09 and greatly improves the readout

Clutch Starting to Slip in Reverse

Did this test and no symptoms. She performed flawlessly. No issues in reverse either, but I have felt her slip recently, but only in reverse. She may be starting to show her age. Going to ponder on this and have two cars getting up in mileage. May have to get something newer for the wife and...

Clutch Starting to Slip in Reverse

The care is a 2009 Mazda 5 with ~140,000 miles. It seems in certain situations that the clutch is starting to slip in the reverse gear. Does this mean it will start to slip on all other gears and a pre-cursor? Should I push this as far is it possible? I ultimately don't want to get stranded. I...

    2nd gear Grinding Manual Transmission

Just put some redline mt90 in it with a small amount of Lucas. The wife and I both drove it around for about ten minutes and couldn't get second to grind even when single clutching. I'm definitely still going to double clutch when down shifting. Again thanks to everyone here for sharing your...

    2nd gear Grinding Manual Transmission

I took a bit of air out of the system by bleeding it. I will change the trans oil later this week. I still need to double clutch on second. Based on the behavior of all other gears, I think the second gear synchro is a goner.
