    Mitsu outlander trans questions!!

Ok, have a outlander 2014 diesel with 110k miles. Are replacing atf and gear oil this spring. It says ”hypoid gear oil API GL5 sae80” Now, what would be the best choise for that spec? A 75w80? What do you think? In gearbox it says ”Mitsubishi genuine ATF-j3”. Should I go original on this or...

Sea doo gti 90: what oil?

Need to top up the pwc and no xps to be found nearby. What’s the consensus on replacement oil for these rotax 900 ace? (No compressor or turbo) Manual says xps semi synth 5w40. Can’t find what classifications that oil has. What to look for to find a great oil for this application?

Vroom scooter won't go over 30

Now, if it used to go 60 and now 30, something changed. So it's not the variator weights, not the exhaust, not the carb nozzles. I got a 50cc variety of the GY6 for free and it was hard to start and very weak, so we cleaned the carb, changed the plug, replaced a cracked vacuum hose etc etc. No...

Marine engine oil vs automotive and diesel oil

now volvo penta is not a suzuki four stroke but volvo too consolidated and now offer one oil for all diesel and gas inboards: A VDS 15w40 diesel rated oil. I run volvo penta VDS OR mobil delvac mx 15w40 in the volvo penta v8. Strange enough sometimes the volvo penta oil is cheaper... So I agree...

    Cordless Electric Lawn Mowers

I hear that they keep ca 80% capacity after 500-1000 charge cycles. I wouldn't think they last 30 yrs though, most equipment don't either. The motors however may easily last 30 years since electric motors are veery long lasting. One motor in a local saw mill has been running since like 1950...

    Cordless Electric Lawn Mowers

The automowers work incredibly well, a neighbour use three to keep a 6-7 acre meadow looking like a park or golf course. He would go crazy if he had to mow that on the rider-and it would look worse most days of the week. And the eletric motors are not to be mistaken as a "BB gun" any more, had...

    Cordless Electric Lawn Mowers

Well, over the last years battery power and energy storage has improved a lot so I would say it is now totally reasonable that a mower will work fine on batteries. Electric engines have a couple of great characteristics that differs from gas engines: 1. They have higher torque at lower rpm than...

Platinum or Iridium Plugs for OPE?

I have not tried iridium plugs on ope but you are stating that the plug change somehow improves fuel consumption in a snow blower. Since you are running it att full throttle and there is no feedback or connection between the ignition and carb that is simply impossible unless the plugs allows you...

Adventures with my 42 yr old Stihl's Loose Muffler

about the 16:1 etc, The piston etc does not need that much oil BUT some engines did not have ball bearings on the crankshaft and the brass bushings did need a lot of oil. So, if that saw has real bearings, I would not run them at 16:1 today, maybe 40-50:1

Changing valve gasket on Ranger. Varnish?

Yes I do consider it short. It's 37 oil changes over ca 17 years which makes almost two per year. I would run it a full year and more like 8-10k OCI. Changing valve gasket on Ranger. Varnish?

A thin coat of that can't be a problem. However, with supershort 5k oci I would expect less. Maybe check the PCV system to make sure there is good ventilation of excessive fumes in there.

oil to use to clean foam filters

I used gasoline to clean them but I have had a few that disintegrated a while after the gas treatment. Could be the gas but I don't know, so now I use dish soap and then some oil to make them a bit more sticky. Years ago Briggs manuals suggested gasoline cleaning...

    Electric Li-Ion Snow Blower?

I really like battery-driven stuff, the Makita 18v tools I use is really all I use now. I am also considering buying a husqvarna Li-ion chainsaw and brushcutter as I tried them and they could really shine on smaller jobs. BUT.... I have still not tried a strong enough, gas snow blower. So I...
