The guys on the Audi forum with the twin turbo V8's Audis just switched to the Valvoline Restore and Protect oil. Some of the V6 guys do a little of everything, piston soak and Valvoline Restore and Protect, some use Yamalube Ring Free now and Valvoline Restore and Protect. Some just do the...
Be cool to see the Euro spec here certainly, but there is a ton of Audi guys already using the Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30 in their Euro cars, including the twin turbo hot rod S8's and A8's with huge success and getting rid of the oil consumption problems.
Audi approved "Euro oil" is...
Turn #3 over so you can see the lift lobes of the cam and take the photo like #2 is in the photo. Bottom side of the lobes mean nothing as there is no pressure on them there.
Engine #2 the lobe of the cam is failing from the looks of it.
I just did my 4th oil change of Valvoline Restore and Protect recently and finally got around to cutting the filter apart today from our Audi Q7 3.0T V6 CREC engine. Surprisingly I'm still finding a great deal of carbon particles in the filter pleats. This is the 5th oil filter that's come out...
Valvoline Restore and Protect is $2.00 more for a 5 quart jug vs. Mobil 1 0w/40 at Walmart and Valvoline Restore and Protect shows better on the wear metals overall. Seriously.... I just don't get some peoples thought process.
I've never used HPL before myself. A couple of guys on AudiWorld forums have claimed to used HPL when they begun to consume some oil on their Audis and claimed to reverse the consumption because they were scared of using Valvoline Restore and Protect and wouldn't think outside the box worrying...
Funny, because so many people here on BITOG have told me that the Audi 3.0t engine in our Q7 was a bad design with piston and ring flaws and poorly engineered bla, bla, bla, yet the Valvoline Restore and Protect completely cured the severe oil guzzling on it from its plugged up low tension ring...
Chambers look clean for sure. That product must work well. Spark plug electrodes just don't come off for no reason however. Typically if the ceramic breaks its caused by detonation, if the electrode is gone also from deto. pre-ignition or heat eroding it away. What does the plug look like that...
I doubt highly it was a spark plug that did that. The Audi 3.0 CREC engine is known for valve failure after the rings stick and the consumption gets severe enough. The oil consumption gets so bad and loads the piston crown and head chambers with so much carbon from the oil consumption that when...
Well, guys are running it in their TWIN turbo Audi 4.0 V8s with great success helping and curing their oil consumption on. Oil sampling is showing less wear metals on 5w-30 than using their previous name brand high end 5 and 0w-40 approved Euro oils at same intervals. Some here say wear metals...
Sure. The new formulation is missing a whole bunch of oxidization level. The old formula was over 30. The new formulation is like 7 as I recall. I really didn't like the way the new formulation worked in my twin turbo Mercedes at all. Engine was louder and consumed more oil during an interval...
So the Castrol is that bad in your opinion also? I'd agree, knowing that's what the dealer was using in our vehicle prior to our purchasing the vehicle a year ago, so I gotta agree with that one myself.
If one had been using Mobil 1 ESP 0w-30 all would be fine? I've corrected the oil...
Nothing is being added to the oil. Something to also note, this vehicle is also tuned to 435 HP and being run hard and wrung out now and again often, not on the track but it gets its neck wrung out now and again with the 034 Motorsports tune in it. So the oil is not treated too nice.
As Lake...
Uh no.
It was a follow up to my original post #1 with the initial 2000 mile interval on it. Same vehicle with more intervals of Valvoline Restore and Protect on it. Audi Q7 with the ring sticking CREC engine has near 50,000 miles on it now using Valvoline Restore and Protect, and oil...
