Goodyear Reliant Tires for the kid

I don’t find them loud at all. I don’t drive her car often, but when I do they’re normal sounding to me. Of course that Sportage isn’t the quietest car on the road, so there’s that. I have a rental right now since my trucks getting hail damage fixed. It’s a RAV4 with Milestar tires on it. Those...

Goodyear Reliant Tires for the kid

The tires are doing great on my daughter’s Kia. No issues at all.

What are you working on today?

Changed the brake pads and rotors all the way around on my Silverado today. The front right caliper had a leak in one of the pistons, so I replaced that caliper. The rest were fine. Put on Raybestos Element 3 pads and Wagner E coated rotors on all 4 corners.

Did a piston soak on the 18 Kia 2.4L this weekend

Update Oil level is still on full today! I added 1/4 quart late last week, but it’s been quite a while now and it’s still not using. I’m very happy!

Did a piston soak on the 18 Kia 2.4L this weekend

I did 3 different EC30 cleanings on it before this over the last year or so. I still have a quart left, I may try it next time.

Did a piston soak on the 18 Kia 2.4L this weekend

Checked it today and added oil to bring it back to the full mark. It took right at 1/4 of a quart. It’s been almost 2 weeks, and I was burning 1 quart a week. I can say for sure this did something! Now, how long before I have to do it again?? Either way, I'm pretty happy with the results!

ridiculous consumption of GDI engine oil 110k miles

I have a thread on here about a piston soak I did on my kids Kia 2.4. It was using a quart of oil in about 500 miles. No smoke from the tailpipe either. So far the piston soak has helped a ton! She’s gone 500ish miles and used no oil. The oil would also get dark black really fast, which I assume...

Did a piston soak on the 18 Kia 2.4L this weekend

Just under 500 miles and just over a week of driving. I was adding a quart every week before, so this is a major improvement!

Did a piston soak on the 18 Kia 2.4L this weekend

I’m glad to report that the oil level is still at the full line and still very clean looking. Normally by now I’ve added at least a quart and it would be dark black.

Didn’t check. This was a fly by the seat of my pants move!

Did a piston soak on the 18 Kia 2.4L this weekend

That was my thought. I was going to see how things went this OCI. If I end up doing it again, I’ll probably use the liquid stuff in the can vs the spray stuff. Trav talks about the liquid stuff in his posts about piston soaks. I just had the foaming spray stuff already here, so I used that out...

Did a piston soak on the 18 Kia 2.4L this weekend

Update! It’s still really early on, but things are looking promising. My kid drives about 70 miles a day round trip to school Monday through Thursday. I just checked the oil when she got home and it’s still full! Also the oil is still really clean. Before it would get really dirty quickly with...

Did a piston soak on the 18 Kia 2.4L this weekend

The oil consumption has gotten crazy on this car. I ended up ordering a can of the ACDelco spray Top Engine Cleaner. I removed the plugs and foamed all 4 cylinders with the spray. I went out every hour or so and filled them back up. I would turn over the engine a few turns every time as well...

BF Goodrich Trail-Terrain T/A my initial impressions

I really like them. They’re at 8/32” last time I checked them. I drive my truck like a truck, so I don’t notice any of the things that TR reports on them. They have great traction, great hydroplane resistance, and great braking wet and dry. I’m sure if they were on a sporty SUV I would have more...
