    Is this soap any good?

Agree. I’ve tried others but keep coming back to this. The suds have great lubricity. Not cheap, but it’s always in stock at Walmart.

Oil Recommendation Nissan VQ40DE + opinions on current oil/filter

Well-said. Personally, I’ve chosen M1 0W-40 these days with my 290,000+ mile Tacoma 4.0. It did live most of its life on 5W-30 or 10W-30. But always M1. Runs like new.

    Best new car smell substitute?

I don’t know if it smells like a new car, but I’ve found the Meguiar’s Ultimate Interior Detailer spray to smell pleasant. I don’t care for strongly-scented perfumed products, and it’s not too strong. Also not greasy.

    Water Spots on Paint

Amazingly, the water spots all came completely off with the Griot’s Ceramic Detailer Spray! This was my first time trying it on the Odyssey; the previous 2 times I’ve washed the van, I’ve dried with only a microfiber, then applied the Griots Ceramic 3-in-1 Ceramic Spray Wax. This time, I...

    Water Spots on Paint

I have some of the Griots ceramic detailer spray. Had not even thought that that might even work. Guess it can’t hurt to try before going more aggressive.

    Water Spots on Paint

I’ve seen a few threads, and a couple of discussions on removing spots from glass, but nothing recent on paint. We bought a new 2024 Odyssey (black paint) less than a month ago. I washed the van 2 weekends in a row (2-bucket method, Meguiar’s Gold Class, Griot’s Garage 3-in-1 Ceramic Spray...

FAA investigating MLB coach being allowed in the cockpit during a charter flight

Is that a post-9/11 rule? I can remember asking, and getting permission, to visit the cockpit during a flight when I was a kid, maybe 4-5 years old. Even got to sit in one of the pilot’s seats and played with the yoke! This would have been around 1984-85 timeframe.

    2024 Toyota Tacoma SR5 4WD

That’s awesome man! It looks great!

    We Bought a 2024 Odyssey

It’s been said that the “ultimate enthusiast vehicle” is a sporty RWD or AWD wagon with a manual trans. Sporty and fun to drive, but lots of utility to haul stuff as well. This is not that different, really, except larger and a bit more ponderous. This obviously has a pretty sporty powertrain...

    Another 737 mishap

That was a gnarly incident. Those are the aircraft we work on, and OGMA in Portugal does the same type of work that we do, on the ERJs. We talk about and think about that incident frequently as an example. It’s been incorporated into our training. Just incredible that they got it landed...

    Coffee - Your Current Brew

I’ve never tried TH. Heard a lot about it. Sounds like I need to.

    We Bought a 2024 Odyssey

I know Honda has always said they use a break-in oil with a good bit of moly. Not sure if that’s still the case. Maybe someone can enlighten us. I’ve historically changed oil on brand new vehicles around 3000 miles. In any case, I’d like to change it before it gets too hot.

    PENNZOIL $25 rebate on 10 quarts starts today ( 2/1/24 ) until

Pennzoil Platinum Pure Plus. They used to put that on the bottles - it was their trade name for their GTL-derived synth oils. Not sure if they still do or not, but we used to use that abbreviation around here a lot.

    We Bought a 2024 Odyssey

Installed the S-VCM muzzler last night. No issues. Thinking I'll take advantage of the $25 rebate when you buy 2 5-qt jugs of PPPP. I'll use the 5W-30. Still only 1400 miles on it, so not in a huge hurry to drain the FF, but will probably change it before we start seeing regular 90 degree temps.
