Thanks. I've owned a Fusion before. Spending an extra 50 bucks for oil for a year's use is a non-issue. It costs me $250 to walk into Sam's Club to stock up on water. I'm going to run the oil for at least a year and likely in excess of 20k miles. I've run Amsoil Signature Series to 20k miles in...
Thanks for the feedback fellas. I expect this motor to run for a long time. I just ordered High Performance Lubricants 10w20 for it and I'll share oil analysis along the way.
Thanks all, I assuming it's never been changed and wondering what's thought to be in it now, if it hasn't been changed. I haven't checked the filter but have seen reference to the white "FoMoCo" filter as being on cars from the factory. I do over 20k miles per year and plan to run this motor for...
I just bought a 2017 Ford Fusion with 2.5L N/A motor. The oil life indicator says 13% left and I'm pretty certain the oil has never been changed. I'm going to do an oil analysis. Any idea what the factory fill oil is? Ford Synthetic Blend 5w20?
I'm starting to settle on that I'd rather pay for more oil and filters if it means less dirt in the motor - assuming there isn't much difference, if any, between how either oil keeps the engine clean and inhibits wear. The lower price of the oil means I can get more dirt out of the motor...
Maybe I will try Pennzoil Platinum next fill. I'm open to suggestions for "Why spend more?" oil. Also, why I need to use something other than Super Tech for a 10k mile oil change, based on the results above.
I checked my notes and the Super Tech oil went in at the end of May. So, it also went thru the summer in Central FL. Mid-upper 90 degree temps are routine.
Thanks for sharing. I haven't done the research on the Group 3 / Group 4 stuff you mentioned. I ran the Amsoil Signature to nearly 20k miles. The filter looked like it was in a turbo truck in Florida for 20k miles. I figured if I went 10k miles, that's less dirt in the motor and just not pushing...
Change @ 41k was Amsoil Signature Synthentic with 19k miles on oil
Change @ 126k was Super Tech Synthetic with 10,855 miles on oil
I doubt I will spend the money on the Amsoil Signature oil again unless it's doing something far better that makes it worth the price. Plus, I'm paying money for...
It runs great. LOVE this motor... Doesn't use any oil, has plenty of power for towing, and knocks down solid gas mileage in the truck. Glad to see it available in new Bronco.
Yes, this was done several years ago. Don't come here much and realized this section existed and I had this data. Truck has 126k miles on it now. Is new formulation considered "better"? Yeah, I know, I need to read up. I guess with my DI Turbo motor that's a thing...
