    Broken exhaust stud removal

To just take out a bit more of the remnant piece down in the hole?

    Broken exhaust stud removal

Minor changes in a positive direction. One step forward, one step back. I drilled the one seized stud out with a 6.8mm bit which is correct to re-tap an m8-1.25 thread. Got the drill press lined up and everything going. At one point the bit got stuck, my drill press is a 1950s unit and the...

Out with the Audi & In with a Pilot

I suspect that there’s a very significantly different overhead structure. The technicians have a certain amount of burdened cost of labor for benefits, social security, etc. Figure it’s roughly double their pretax salary. The rest is all dealer profit and OH. If it’s $289/hr, that’s...

EV and Hybrid - CAR - Front ends. Ugly.

IIRC the originals didn’t need a front grill either. So it may get a pass.

Motive Pressure Bleeder adapter for Hondas

I have one that uses a double o-ring and has a metal collar that gets installed to hold together. Works perfect.

Vehicle Sighting - 1970 Chev El Camino

Always liked those double headlight setups. I know a guy with a mid-70s Pontiac Gran Ville 455 convertible that has ones that look almost the same.

BMW EV China sales; not good

German automakers selling in China is an interesting thing. Be it EV or just standard ICE. I would t trust the market or the tech transfer risk there if I was a maker. As I understand it their vehicles are different when sold there. Battery tech, risk or none from a safety perspective, is...

    Battery Longevity

What a shame. The old Panasonic Toyota OE batteries lasted 10 years in NE climate.

    EVs on Long Road Trips

Pretty sure that offer is long gone so anyone looking to buy won’t get the same. I know someone who has the same deal so holds onto the car as it is a great deal. His battery also recently failed, under warranty.

    EVs on Long Road Trips

I wouldnt be concerned about finding a charger. The issue is the obnoxious cost. It costs more per mile than our minivan costs on gas. And since you can’t charge from home, you’re kind of stuck.

Engine oil recommendation for Kubota MX6000 tractor

Not sure of the engine model but that’s consistent with our generator service Kubota diesel. We run SAE 30 in tropical service but I’ve thought of going to 10w-30 even there.

    Grill flame and replacement

I’ve had a Weber Q large size for a very long time. We don’t grill that much, maybe a few times a month on average, a little more in the summer, less in the winter. The center burner in it seems to make a lot of yellow-orange flame, while the outer ring of burners is still blue, maybe even...

On the Border preparing to go defunct

I remember going to one in north Jersey maybe 20 years ago. It wasn’t bad. But there are so many options.

Another old battery at tractor supply

What voltage did it read? Age isn’t as big a factor if kept toppped up, no parasitic load, and kept cool.
