    German Green??

Sorry to ask an age old question again, but read again a few days ago "use fresh oil". Can we keep oil stored correctly for years and years? Synthetics are indeed more stable, but indefinite?

Are there any xxW-30 CI-4+ diesel oils?

Geez, At 300,000 miles mine was great, enough to cover many states. A tire failure left me stranded, never other stuff. These were tanks, mine did'nt care about oil grades/ manufacturers. It just wanted gas, plenty of gas. But better oil would help.

Are there any xxW-30 CI-4+ diesel oils?

My old 72 F350 HUGE BLOCK lasted forever, I never treated it as I would today. Seems I abused it and drove 1/1.5k miles a week back then and hated brake changes more than a root canal. But I changed oil religously every 3-4-5k Miles. That motor was tuff, and I'd never advise abusing ANY motor...

Any happy Bosch Platinum +4 users?

Many years back I had an 86 Ranger 4x4 that ran happily for mebbe 125,000 miles on Autolite Platinums (after the first early change). In the meanwhile I changed out plug wires, rotors, dist caps. I had a little stumbling at low speeds, found a bad whire, was replaced under lifetime warranty, so...

best stuff for removing baked on carbon?

How about trying Mercury outboard 2stroke cleaner? Cannot promise it'll work, but I used it to clean old gun barrels and was impressed. It sprays liquid, then foams. After using other proven gun solvents I'd use that stuff. I'd give it time to work, then clean. I'd get dirty patches I'd never...

    MEK

Where can we get this stuff? I used it for cleaning my tools (many years back) when I worked in a refinery. It cut crud better than anything I ever tried before or since. I remember it's smell, and how it dried so quickly. A month later a co-worker was diagnosed with terribly advanced liver...

Dot5 or Dot4? How can I tell what is in my brake system

If there is ANY doubt, I'd personally drain all and flush a little, then refill, bleed, and have no doubts. I understand your question, am dealing with it now myself. My plans are as stated, then I WILL KNOW,without any doubt. The cost is about 3-4 gallons of gas but worthy of this expense (we...

    Any former synthetic users?

On cars that sit for days/weeks I believe that syn oils offer benefits that well justify their costs. Correct me if that is mis-stated, but don't synthetics cling better and offer cold start protection just a little better? I apologize if that is a misnomer, but is what I have believed for 2o...

Okay, which are GIII, GIV, and GV

Many years ago (back in mid 80's) an article about winterizing your vehicle. It advised mixing 1 quart synthetic in every oil change for cold start protection. I believed this and have followed that advice mostly, with zero oil related failures (and many torturous rpm excursions). Lately, I have...

Rethinking Use of Synthetic - Opinions?

First post, am learning as I read. For the last 3,000,000 miles or so (mid 80's) I have been using 1 quart (usually M1) to about 5 quarts of dino (usually havoline) in all my stuff. Cars, trucks, bikes, 4 wheelers, lawnmowers, etc... and have been very happy. I have NEVER seen anything but clean...
