I was replacing my coolant the other day and found what look like paint chips in the reservoir. I suspect it's a material that precipitated as a film inside the reservoir, then flaked off. It's beige in colour, and crumbles to a fine powder when dry. Any thoughts on what it is?

The abutment at the north end of the bridge could be the cause of the collapse. If you check the pictures, you'll notice it is leaning quite a lot.

Look at the frame of the XR1200, and compare it to, say, a Buell XB12R. Well, there really isn't much comparison. You don't need to be an engineer to see that the XB12R frame is much stiffer.
