I don't think you need anything over the top, unless it's burning oil (which I doubt). You'll be fine using 10w-30 Castrol GTX or similar. Great truck, I just got back from Japan. My parents neighbour has two of these, I need to introduce myself and peek inside their garage for oil jugs 🤣

I suspect low refrigerant. Also, turn rec↩️ off when you get in, outside temperature is often not as hot as the vehicle interior when parked in the sun, and therefore harder (slower) to cool.

Clearly there's something wrong. I drove a Nissan Maxima with the infamous CVT through the moutains in PA to SoFLo and back without incident; it was a walk in the park for the CVT. BTW, I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your father, @R18Civic.

IME, there's a learning curve with CVT. You can't hammer on it and expect to live a long life. Acceleration needs to be smooth and gradual unlike a step shift where you can put you're foot into it. So, yes, start worrying.
