BMW 325i fuel in the oil

Note: you can always use a 5W50 grade, if you're concerned about cold-start flow, though you won't be compromising anything by using Mobil 1 15W50 synthetic year-round in Ireland - just as long as temps stay above 20 degrees f or so.

BMW 325i fuel in the oil

Same with the S50 - you want at least a 50 weight oil in there. I'd recommend Mobil 1 15W50.

BMW 325i fuel in the oil

I'd seriously recommend Mobil 1 15W50. If you're on the track, you should be using a 50 weight (at LOWEST a 40 weight grade) oil in an M50 - M54 engine. 5W30 used on an E36 track car is an absolute sin - an absurdity to be frank. Don't take the Oil 101 low-viscosity oil doctrine as gospel -...

BMW Engine Oiling: Full Force-Fed System?

Just asking out of curiosity. Engine design interests me greatly for some reason. And, I agree those classic BMW inline 6 engines will go forever. Everything else will go before the engines ever do...

BMW Engine Oiling: Full Force-Fed System?

I appreciate the response, but are you certain or speculating? I know your 735i features an M30, yet the M30 was designed in the late-'60s and M20 in the '70s - just want to make sure if that fits modern designation. What year did "modern" era designation begin roughly? Thanks!

BMW Engine Oiling: Full Force-Fed System?

Can someone please confirm if the classic BMW engines (M20, M30, or M50) feature a full force-fed oiling system? A full force-fed system requires oil passages in the rods. Full Force-fed System: Partially Force-fed System:

    2.5 liter I4 vs 2.5 I6 - What am not getting?

Hi, all. I have a general question about the dynamics of a given liter size in different cylinder number engines and the power that can be produced in both 6 and 4 cylinder engine designs, which are both naturally aspirated, both feature DOHC 4 valve per cyl, and both are high compression: A...

    Convincing 10W over 5W Cold-Start Argument...

Thanks, Stevie and Speedy! Btw, all, I'm not saying either contention is neccessarily the most accurate. I just wanted to put this out into the best oil forum on the internet and see the various opinions and what would be made of it. I have no strong bias either way at this point, so I am going...

    Convincing 10W over 5W Cold-Start Argument...

Hi, all. I am new to the forum, yet I have read A LOT of the posts here by various posters and A.E. Haas in particular. In Hass' Motor Oil lessons 101 thru 201 http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/aehaas/ his general opinion is overall thinner viscosities are what cars will thrive on - always looking to...
