    Maintenance in general

I think that we all want to do the right thing when it comes to maintaining our cars (trucks, boats, bikes, rigs, tractors, etc.) We try to make sure that we get the best parts we can based on our research and tips from good people on websites like BITOG, and so-on. It is scary though that we...

    Castrol Syntec 5w-40 (be kind)

In short, I read the bottle yesterday and the CS 5w-40 is made from US and imported components and is not to be sold outside of the Americas. My CarQuest guys stock this specifically for the Lotus dealer down the street and don't keep it out front on the shelf. So, is this a true synthetic...

    SCORED! 27 qts M1 0W-20 SL for $1/qt

Excellent find! It seems that some stores are eliminating M1 0w-20 because the average joe would walk in, want the M1, but see 0w instead of 5w and not understand that the 0w can be used in place of the 5w and end-up not buying the M1 0w-20. So it's possible that you got such a great deal...

    CarQuest oil and Motorcraft oil

Hello all. I'm the newbie with the Subie (2006 Impreza WRX) that you helped out, thanks - and yes, I'm back on the dino for break-in. CarQuest now stocks their own brand of synthetic. I know that it's Valvoline, however what kind/type/level of synthetic is it? The bottle has the starburst on...

    Newbie with 2006 Impreza WRX

Thanks everyone for the advice. Honestly, I did not do my homework and took it upon myself to switch directly to the M-1 oil. I really thought that given the way cars are built today, and that more and more are filled with either blended or fully synthetic oil from the start that what harm...

    Newbie with 2006 Impreza WRX

Thank you for the feedback. It seems that I will stick to the synthetic 5w-30 for fall/winter and switch to the synthetic 5w-40 for the summer and no additives. As for oil changes, it's either the 3,750 or 7,500 as recommended by Subaru. I understand why they have the two different schedules...

    Newbie with 2006 Impreza WRX

Hello all. I just bought a 2006 WRX. The build date is February 2006 and I bought it early August 2006. It had 51 miles on it as a test drive car (I also test drove it). So I figured it should have an oil change and I did so 50 miles later. I put in 4 quarts of Mobil-1 5w-30 and 1/2-quart of...
